In 1987 the Beaumont Enterprise newspaper helped sponsor one of the areas longer races, a 15K that started at Parkdale Mall and ended at city hall in downtown Beaumont. The race was held on November 14, 1987. Overall winners were Dermot Dolan, who ran 49:38 and Diane Miller, whose time was 59:09. Ninety-one runners participated in the event.
