Still surviving as in independent private practice Clinical Psychologist who, thanks to managed care, is making about as much income now as I did in 1985. I am not enough of a gambler to buy lottery tickets every day, so it looks like I'll be doing this for quite some time still! This is my 45th year skiing and my 30th year in the National Ski Patrol. For the past decade I've been driving 75 miles north weekly to patrol at Gore Mountain, ski in the Winter and mountain bike in the Summer. Watch for me at the first Winter Goodwill Games in February in Lake Placid. Whiteface is our sister mountain in the Olympic Regional Development Authority and they will be using Senior Patrollers from Gore to handle all the increased duties for the week. They'll probably assign me to the downhill races near the top. I'll be the very old looking guy with the almost all gray mustache. My love to anyone in the class you get to see.
April, 2004 Very little has changed in the Garnett family over the past few years. I'm still working face to face usually one on one as a clinical psychologist in private practice with a yearly decrease in income of several percentage points thanks to managed care. Janie is also a private practice psychotherapist when she's not rising in the ranks of her international women's organization, Hadassah. Older daughter is 28 living in San Francisco but soon to move back east with her fiance...she's a special education teacher in high school and he's a computer engineer going back to graduate school to do something else. Younger daughter, 25, runs the front of the house of a very popular sports bar/nightclub in St. Petersburg Florida after years of being the assistant or head of the back of the house in several restaurants. No cats at home for the first time in 22 years but living with our third Samoyed who functions well for his role living with a couple of empty nesters. Just completed my 49th consecutive ski season, the last 34 as a patroller...but who's counting? Our backyard neighbors and friends for the past 27 years just bought a second home on Long Beach Island, NJ...Going there with them was our first time back there since our honeymoon! I didn't recognize any of the garbagemen (obtuse allusion). All my best to everyone who attends and don't forget about the few of us who have stuck it out up here where we still have real winter.
