November 18, 1999 - Landover, Maryland - Once again, the Laurel High School Class of 1998 is on the move. While LHS Class of 1998 alumni have interned in many fields including: Computer Science, Journalism, Mass Communications, Engineering, and Chemistry, nothing has been heard from the entertainment sector... until now that is. Khary Reynolds just received notification that he will be interning with Bad Boy Entertainment. His duties will include working with the producers that worked with the multi-platinum artists the late Notorious B.I.G., 112, Faith, Total, and Puff Daddy. Congratulations Khary.

July 20, 1999 - Washington D.C. - The Laurel High School Class of 1998 is on the rise once again. Did you know that Stephen Blake, who attends George Wahington University, was awarded the Freshman of the Year Award? Did you know that he is also the president of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society? While all that is very impressive, Stephen admits his most notable accomplishment is that he is now a disciple of Christ, and that he is trying to live the life the Bible calls people to live. Congratulations Stephen, and good luck in your new life.

July 2, 1999 - Austin, Texas - With Y2K less than 6 months away, and the world moving into the computer age, the demand for workers with a technological background is growing. Adeniyi Adeyiga is helping to meet this demand. As an intern in the Engineering Software divison of IBM, his job is to help program and test some of IBM's newest software, to help update IBM's internal webpage, and he is also on a development team that works to improve previous IBM products. Congratulations, Adeniyi.

June 8, 1999 - Beltsville, Maryland - Enjoying your summer yet? Well Erika Tillery sure is. As a Biology major at Morgan State University she is spending her summer working with the United States Department of Agriculture. As an intern she works from 9 to 5 behind a USDA chemist in Beltsville, Maryland. Congratulations, Erika.

May 11, 1999 - Ashland, Ohio - The Class of 1998 is moving on up. Did you know that a LHS Class of 1998 alumnist will have her very own radio show on the FM dial? Meghan Smith, an Electronic Media Production and Journalism major at Ashland University in Ohio, will have her own entertainment radio show on WRDL 88.9 FM-Ashland-Mansfield next semester. Great work, Meghan.

April 28, 1999 - Atlanta, Georgia - What are you doing this summer? Two members of the LHS Class of 1998 have secured summer internships already. Shavonne Mott and Loria Wilson will be employed by Sister To Sister Magazine starting May 17th in Lanham, MD. Shavonne, a Journalism major at Clark-Atlanta University, and Loria, a Mass Communications-Public Relations major at Clark-Atlanta University, will be working in nearly every department in the magazine. Congratulations, you two.

February 14, 1999 - Raliegh, North Carolina - While most of us were struggling with all this college homework, others were waiting to get that card or receive a call from that special someone for Valentine's Day. Not Candice Sims. As a midshipman in North Carolina State University's Naval ROTC she was present for one of the biggest parties in the world, Mardi Gras. Candice's battalion took first place for their Color Gurard's performance and she visited many sites in New Orleans including the famous French Quarters and Bourbon Street. Welcome back Candice.

February 11, 1999 - Montpelier, Maryland - Did you know that a LHS class of 1998 alumist was pictured on the front of the Laurel Leader? Rico Kendrick was pictured in a 8x5 inch full color picture dribbling a basketball on his finger. The caption read, "Laurel High grad Federico Kendrick, who lives in Montpelier, is having a ball this season as a freshman starter for Capitol College." A section of the article focuses on Rico, where he talks about his place on the basketball team and why he chose to go to Capitol College. The picture and the article entitled "Computer Chips, Not Blue Chips" are located in the February 11th issue of the Laurel Leader. Congratulations, Rico.

January 29, 1999 - Baltimore, Maryland - This was a special day for Lynette Nicole' Graves. On this day Lynette joined Paul Kwame Ofori Assante' in holy matrimony. She is now Lynette Nicole' Assante'. The newly weds reside together in Baltimore, Maryland where they recently moved into a new house. There is a house warming party planned for March 27 from 4-7:30 pm. Email her Lynette for details. The Laurel High School Class of 1998 wishes Lynette and her new husband the best of luck.

December 17, 1998 - Laurel, Maryland -After over a year of mutual love, Destiny Shauntere' Fowler was married to Derric Simms. They currently reside together in their new apartment in West Laurel, MD. Congratulations to the both of them, and the best of luck in the future.

December 4, 1998 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - On the sports front, one of the LHS Class of 1998's best athletes, Jill Carman recently participated in the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament in Los Angeles, California. As a part of Temple University's Women's Volleyball team, Jill helped her team win the Atlantic 10 conference by smashing Virginia Tech for the championship. Though Temple lost to the Texas A&M Aggies in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Jill was part of only the second Temple University Women's Volleyball Team to make it to the NCAA Tournament in Temple's history. Congratulations Jill.

July, 25 1998 - Atlanta, Georgia - After Grad Night most members of the LHS Class of 98 felt free in knowing they had almost 3 months before they had to go to college. Not Michael Cheek. Michael was accepted in to the Claude B. Dansby Advanced Mathematics in Physics Program at Morehouse College. Two days after Beach Week, Michael was down in Atlanta in class from 8 o'clock in the morning to 8:30 at night with an hour break for lunch and for dinner. Though working a difficult schedule, the Claude B. Dansby Scholars had plenty oppurtunities for fun including trips to Disneyworld, The Kennedy Space Center, Six Flags Over Georgia, and Whitewater Amusement Park. The Claude B. Dansby Scholars program is reserved for the top 10 Computer Science/Engineering majors that will be attending Morehouse College in the fall.

June 1, 1998 - Mitchellville, Maryland - I know most of ya'll read Jet, right? Well did you know that an LHS Class of 1998 alumnist was pictured in the June 1st issue? Janine Jackson, along with 22 other college-bound seniors, were recognized for their receipt of full four year scholarships through Carl Rowan's Project Excellence program. Janine attends Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. Congratulations Janine. And by the way if you're looking for the issue it's page 22 of Jet Magazine for June 1, 1998 with a big picture of Brandy on the front.
