Spring 2000 Tryout Dates: April 12, 13, 14
Second Cuts April 17, 18
(All tryouts to be held from 6-8 p.m)
The tryout process, which consists of several workshops and two tryout sessions, lasts approximately one and a half to two weeks.
Eligibility:
-Incoming Freshmen to seniors for 2000-2001 school year -Must be a full time student (taking at least eight credit hours) with a minimum GPA of 2.0
-OR-
-Must be admitted to Purdue University
What to expect at tryouts:
-Participants will be taught an eight to 12, eight-count dance, a fight song, and a chant. These will be performed in front of a six member judge panel.
-Participants will also be asked to execute a toe-touch jump, a pirouette turn (preferably double), and high kicks on each leg.
-Thirty participants will be selected to proceed to the second cut. At the second cut tryout, held two to three days later, participants will perform everything from the preliminary cut. In addition, four to six eight-counts of choreagraphy will be taught, and each participant will be required to choreograph four to six additional eight counts.
-Fourteen members will be selected from this final audition.
Additional Notes:
-Although attendence is not mandatory at any of the learning workshops, it is strongly recommended.
-Attendence is MANDATORY for all tryout sessions; Sorry, NO EXCEPTIONS!
-Tryouts are closed to outside spectators.
-Proper workshop attire consists of appropriate dancewear. Proper tryout attire consists of a black sports bra, black jazz pants, leggings, or shorts, dance sneakers or athletic shoes. -No Jazz Shoes!
