Cologne is in the west of Germany. It has around 1 000 000 inhabitants, it is the fourth biggest city of Europe.

Cologne was founded 12 before Christ. A small town of a German tribe, he was befriended with the romans. Emperor Claudius called the town around 25 AD after his wife Colonia Agreppina.

In the second century the town flourished because there was a crossing of important Roman roads. In the 12th century Cologne became an important tradecentre.

During the second World war the townhall is for 70% destroyed and in the old centre for 90%. During the reconstruction, many historical buildings are restored in the old style.

That's what I can say about the history from Cologne!

A visit of the magnificent cathedral is the highlight.
