Tiger Band Directors




Frank B. Wickes
Director of Bands

Frank B. Wickes has been the director of bands at LSU since 1980 and holds the rank of full professor in the LSU School of Music. The recipient of numerous awards, he recently was honored with an Alumni Professorship at LSU. He recieved his degrees from the University of Delaware and the University of Michigan. He taught in the public schools of Delaware and Virginia for 13 years before serving as the director of bands at the University of Florida from 1973-1980.
At LSU, Wickes has been responsible for administering the total band program. He conducts the Wind Ensemble, directs the Tiger Marching Band, and coordinates the graduate wind band conducting program. He is highly active as a clinician, having served as a guest conductor and adjudicator throughout the United States and Canada, as well as England, South America, and Mexico. Mr. Wickes is a Past-President of the American Bandmasters Association, the National Band Association and of the Southern Division of the College Band Directors National Association. He is also a member of the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, the Music Educators National Conference, Phi Beta Mu and the Louisiana Bandmasters Association.



Linda R. Moorhouse
Associate Director of Bands

Linda R. Moorhouse is in her 14th year as associate director of bands at LSU. Appointed to the School of Music faculty in 1985, she serves as director of the LSU Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band. In addition, she co-directs the LSU Tiger Marching Band also serving as the drill designer and auxiliary director. In the School of Music, she teaches courses in marching band techniques and serves as the faculty advisor to Sigma Alpha Iota, national fraternity for women in music. Recently, she was honored by the LSU School of Music by receiving the "Excellence in Teaching Award" in 1998.
Outside the LSU School of Music, Ms. Moorhouse maintains an active schedule as a concert and marching band clinician, having served as a guest conductor and adjudicator throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. In addition, she currently serves as the President of the Women Band Directors International and is on the board of directors of the National Band Association and the Louisiana State Chair of the College Band Directors National Association. She is also a member of Phi Beta Mu and the Louisiana Bandmasters Association.



Roy M. King
Assistant Director of Bands

Roy M. King is in his second year as Assistant Director of Bands at LSU. Mr. King serves as director of the Symphonic Band and Bengal Brass Basketball Band. In addition, he co-directs the LSU Tiger Marching Band assisting with show and drill design. He also serves as faculty advisor for Kappa Kappa Psi, the national band fraternity.
Before coming to LSU, Mr. King served as a high school band director in Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Florida. Mr. King has been a staff member and has consulted for various drum and bugle corps including the Phantom Regiment from Rockford, Illinois. Mr, King is a member of the Florida Bandmasters Association, Music Educators National Conference, Percussive Arts Society, National Band Association, and the College Band Directors National Association.
