Brief Biography

Dr. Sarhan is currently working in the department of computer engineering at the  University of Jordan. Prior to working at the University of Jordan, Dr. Sarhan spent about two semesters teaching at Al-Ahliyya Amman University in Amman, Jordan. Before joining Amman University, Dr. Sarhan worked for  about two years as an associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science at NYIT - New York Institute of Technology, Abu Dhabi campus, UAE.  Prior to working at NYIT, Dr. Sarhan worked for two years as an instructor of electrical engineering at the Naval College in Abu Dhabi, UAE.. Prior to teaching at the Naval College, Dr. Sarhan spent about two years working as the executive manager of  Buset Medical & Electronic Services in Dubai, UAE. Before working at Buset Medical, Dr. Sarhan spent three years working as an assistant professor of electrical and biomedical engineering at Ajman University of Science and Technology in Abu-Dhabi, UAE. Prior to teaching at Ajman University, Dr. Sarhan worked for one year as an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at Al-Ahliyya Amman University in Amman, Jordan. Before joining Amman University, Dr. Sarhan worked for about three years as an instructor of electronics and computing at the Higher Colleges of Technology, Al-Ain, UAE.   Before working at HCT, Dr. Sarhan spent one year working as an assistant professor of computer engineering at Yarmouk University, Irbid, Jordan.

Dr. Sarhan was born in Amman, Jordan in 1970. Dr. Sarhan did all of his schooling (13 years) at the Al-Aqsa School in Amman and graduated top of his class in 1987. Dr. Sarhan received a BS degree in biomedical engineering from Syracuse University in 1991, and a MS degree in electrical engineering from Syracuse University in 1992. Dr. Sarhan obtained his Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from University of Dayton in 1996. During the three years (1993-1996) Dr. Sarhan spent at the University of Dayton, he was working as a research and teaching assistant.

Dr. Sarhan received the Best Students Paper Award (first place) for the paper “Partition-Based Filters,” the Most Outstanding Paper Published in the NAECON Conference, Dayton, Ohio, May 1995. Dr. Sarhan received a Tuition scholarship from Syracuse University and a Teaching and Research Assistantship from the University of Dayton.

 

Dr. Sarhan enjoys swimming, diving, horse-back riding, and walking.
