smhrts3.gif Nithi was in the US and met up with Chris Jude. They had a wonderful time singing the night away.....

smhrts3.gifGreat to hear from  Feroze Sagar,  son of Dr. Sagar (AH Dept.). He is currently the Manufacturing Manager at Australian Natural Foods, Sydney. Feroze has 3 boys (one pair of twins). Mrs. Sagar is living with him since Dr. Sagar passed away on 8 January, 1996. Please remember Mrs. Sagar in your prayers as she is still mourning the loss of her husband and can't let go.
Younger brother Hanoze is the Manager of a Tea Plantation in Ooty, India and has a young daughter, who can't stop dancing......
just a step back in time.... Hanoze was 7 years old, madly in love with Pinkie and though he hero worshipped Jerry he used to get mighty jealous if saw us together ! He was the Page Boy for our wedding and when he received the new set of clothes, he actually thought he was going to wed Pinkie :) His dad spent hours explaining why he couldn't. After listening to all the explanations, he tells Dad...."all the small kids in the village get married so why can't I?" Dad was outta words !!!! We still love you Hanoze !!!!

smhrts3.gifDad Verma is happy to be back home and in good spirits. Says, 90% of his mission was accomplished and he has no regrets inspite of the unwelcome accident. The first thing he did on reaching home was have his American shower for 45 minutes..... Thats what he missed in India ! But he enjoyed the mangoes......
Allahabad is not the same ....there is water/power shortage and the city is in total darkness each night coz some bills haven't been paid. What a shame !!!
He met most of his college buddies......Dr. & Mrs. Shepherd, (their son Binku is working in AAI and is also known as Dr. Shepherd. Daughter Binu is married and living in Delhi), Mr. & Mrs. S.J. Singh and daughter Neena, Stanely Belton, Dr. Radhey Mohan, to name a few....

smhrts3.gif Just got back from a short trip to Bangalore to visit my parents. Daddy was in hospital for three week late May early June with a mild stroke. He's back home and is doing OK. Mom said to say hi to you. Met Priti David who lives in Bangalore with her husband and three year old son. She used to work for the BBC but now writes a column on food for the local newsaper. She has been a great help to Mummy. Salim David also lives in Bangalore. Last month I went and saw Ajit Velu's grave at the military cemetry in San Antonio Texas (Pinkie you might remember the Velus from the Institute). Ajit was with the US Army and died from complications of a motorcycle accident two years ago.
Hope all is well with you and the family. Texas is HOT and remnds me of summers in Allahabad.
Take care, Deepu

smhrts3.gifSimply wonderful to hear from Tom and Sona Ghosh, the handsome sons of Dr. A.K. Ghosh....
Hi all,
Wow ! My Aginst e-mail address book is growing quite fast. New additions are those of Johnny, Anu, Pramod, Ravi and Pinkie (nice web site Pinkie, by the way).
Pickla is here in Ottawa (I am too, since 1977), he is in the IT field now. I have been with the Federal Gov't since 1982 (time flies, eh?).
My wife Sanchita is an accountant with a hitech company (Ottawa is a hitech and a federal gov't town), daughter Prianka is 12.5 (age, that is) and into sports, and son Akshay is 2.25 and specializes in bothering the rest of us. I am currently enrolled in a distance learning MBA programme, but whatever spare time I have I spend pursuing my hobbies (currently mountain biking, digital photography and running an Internet solutions company that deals with dynamic content, ie, the stuff is in databases rather than hardcoded in html).
I would like to know how would you like to see a discussion forum on the Internet for former Aginst residents, rather than e-mailing back and forth? For a demo, please check out Delphi Message Board.  It's supported by adverisements so there's no sign up costs. Let me know if you'd like to go ahead with this.
Hope to hear from everyone soon. Tom

smhrts3.gif Memories down the Jamuna River !
It was like a breath of fresh air to see so many names pop up on the screen when I received the mail from Tom. I was transported to that wonderful period when we were together; to those carefree days. Sometimes I see the sense of excitement in the eyes of my 2 sons when they visit their cousins at Allahabad - for its open spaces, climbing trees, rolling and tumbling on the lawn with the dogs and cats in tow and live a kind of life that we took for granted.
Yes, its a great idea to touch base and relive those moments, even though its only in virtual space !
Though I have been visiting Allahabad every year or two, I do admit that I have not been to Ag. Inst. perhaps for more than 15 to 20 years. Last summer we were passing that way while returning from Khajuraho; as we were approaching Allahabad, the entire countryside seemed different. The view of rolling fields on either side of the road have been replaced by constructed buildings. The urban landscape stretches much beyond Aggie land. However, the monotony and the summer heat must have put us to sleep; I woke up with a jolt much later while we were almost half-way down the Jamuna bridge !
After Allahabad and college, I have spent all my working life at Bombay except for a short spell at Hyderabad. I started my career with Larsen & Toubro (L&T), an engineering company that has the habit of getting involved in rather exciting projects. Thereafter, in the mid-eighties I worked with the Indian partners of Digital Equipment (DEC), selling and supporting hardware & software solutions to large Indian corporates. When an opportinity arose to get involved in a start-up venture, that was a captive unit to Procter & Gamble, I jumped at the opportunity. This was in Hyderabad and my role was to get the operation started from grass-roots level.
Now for the past 11 years, I have been running a engineering software consulting business based out of Bombay. Our clients are mostly in India, with a few in the neighbouring countries.
On the personal front, Sharmila and I were married in 1980. Sharmila teaches travel and tourism at Sophia College, thats close by. Our elder son, Gaurav (18 yrs) has just completed his school final exams (ISC) this summer and has joined Xaviers College in Bombay, with Economics, Statistics and English as his main subjects. Younger son Abhik (12 yrs) studies in class 7. Both are fond of cricket, reading, quizzing and music. As a family we are fond of the outdoors, and with Sharmila being in the travel industry we get to do our bit across the country, the hills in the north and quaint getaways in and around Bombay.
Tom and Pickla are both in Canada, for many years now. As I think of the past with nostalgia, it is not without the sad moments in our lives. We brothers lost our parents in the past few years. Our father died in 1989, after a prolonged illness, as he had a severe heart condition. However, our mother died in rather tragic circumstances in 1994. In our society, the support system our elders have are their sons and daughters. As we persue our professional interests and live in nuclear families, there arises a kind of dichotomy. Do we have any answers ?
Touching base with people from Ag. Inst. stirrs up such fond memories. Last December we had all drive down to Pune over a long vacation and we decided to trace the Wycliffs's. The local telephone directory had just one Wycliffe listed, so we couldn't have been wrong. We called up, we met and spent an entire evening together. Ashwin was there too, on vacation from the US. So we all had a great time. Sweetie couldn't join us. She is married and settled in Pune.
If anyone is passing through Bombay, we shall be delighted to meet.
With warm regards to all, Sona (Somenath Ghosh)

smhrts3.gif Dear all,
It has been a wonderful surprise to be able to communicate with all school friends whom I grew up with. In-fact it was by chance that I got to the St. Joseph school alumni web-site.
I have been in the U.K. since 1987. After doing my MBBS and MS from Ludhiana I came to London to do M.Sc. in orthopaedic surgery. Then I met my wife Sarah who comes from the Rep. Of Ireland and we got married in 1990. We have a 7 year old son – Niall and a 4 year old daughter Eleanor. We have been in Liverpool since 1993. We would love to have you guys to come and visit us sometimes for old time sake.
I was in Allahabad in December for 2 weeks. Met Arun Paul and Bari. My parents live in the Katra mission compound. Remember the play -ground where the school bus use to park in Mary Wannamaker school. My parents were last in Liverpool in 1995. They feel too old to travel long distances.
My younger sister Anju did her Ph.D. as a Nehru scholar at the Cambridge University and is now working as senior manager in Proctor and Gamble company. She is married with 2 sons. They live in Newcastle-upon –Tyne. Her husband also works in the same company.
My younger brother is a Squadron leader in the Indian air force. He is a helicopter pilot. He is married with 2 sons. He is posted in the Kargil area of Kashmire.
My older brother Rajiv [Winkie], did his Ph.D. in industrial Psychology and is working for a multi-national company as vice-president of human resource development. He is posted at Kathmandu. Will be moving back to Bangalore soon.
I am planning to visit Allahabad leaving Liverpool on 31.7.99. My mother is not keeping well and Dad has very poor eye sight. I do feel the same that in order to pursue our careers we may have forgotten our aging parents. Hope to go down memory lane in the campus next week at agg. institute.
Do keep in touch and visit us in England.
With best wishes and regards to all of you friends, Ravi Massey

neeta
Is this the same LITTLE Neeta Pawar we knew way back in Allahabad?????

smhrts3.gif I am sending a picture of my husband and myself. I guess you would be surprised to see that I am not the skinny girl of past days. Infact, I thought I needed to compliment my husband. We got married on the 24th of May 1997. My mother was able to make it thankfully. She is planning to pay me a visit when Basant's kids are done with those dreadful Board Exams.
This photograph was taken in the last week of June when we had gone to Florida for a weeks break. I loved the Roller-Coaster rides at the Universal Studios. (Good change after programming).
Well, Hope to hear from you all sometimes. I miss Institute and everybody over there. It was my home.
Bye now..... hope you guys like the photo.
Love, Neeta

friendsmhrts3.gif Beauty of Our Friendship
Friendship is a Priceless Gift that cannot be bought or sold,
But its value is far greater than a mountain made of Gold.
For gold is cold and lifeless, it can neither see nor heard
And in the time of trouble it is powerless to cheer.
It has no ears to listen nor heart to understand,
It cannot bring you comfort or reach out a helping hand.
So when you ask God for a gift,
Be thankful if HE sends not diamonds, pearls or riches,
But The Love of Real True Friends.
