EDITION II
Instinct starring Anthony Hopkins, Cuba Gooding, Jr.
The Mummy starring Brendan Fraser
The Matrix starring Keanu Reeves

INSTINCT

Anthony Hopkins plays this old professor that spent a couple of years in the jungle, where he became friend and family to a group of apes. He got into a little trouble and killed some people, and comes to the States as a total looney tune. Cuba Gooding Jr. plays a psychiatrist who tries to help him out and bring him back to being a 'normal' person again.

This movie was CRAP! It had so many holes in the plot, and it really wasn't a good plot to begin with. I mean, come on! Living with apes? The plot crept along slower than a snail's pace, and the ending was totally stupid! There were so many different things they could have done with it, but it just plain was stupid. I don't remember the last time I've wanted to walk out of a movie. Granted, it didn't help that people brought their screaming newborns and 2-year-olds to the theater. I mean, come on, people! Who brings a newborn to an R rated movie? Grow a brain! Anyway, I really tried to like this movie. I like Cuba Gooding Jr and Anthony Hopkins as actors, but I think they could have been a little more selective with their scripts.

THE MUMMY

Brendan Fraser stars as this guy that knows the location of an ancient city in Egypt, where great pharoahs and rulers were buried with their treasure. Much to their dismay, they accidentally conjure up a 3,000-year old mummy back from the dead. Naturally, the mummy goes around wreaking havoc and killing lots of people.
I really liked this movie. It is a pretty original plot (although it was a remake of an old movie), and it kept you in suspense throughout most of the movie. It had an Indiana Jones feel to it - it took place back in the 1920's, lots of treasures, that sort of thing. The special effects were incredible. It really looks like computers are going to replace stuntmen in the future, but who cares? It makes for a good action sequence. I was kind of pissed because I saw a lot of the great scenes in movie trailers and commercials already, and that took away from the element of surprise in it. That's okay, though. I liked it anyway.

Conclusion: See it on the big screen - it won't look as great on video.

THE MATRIX

Wow. That's all I have to say about this movie. This was the most incredible movies I have seen since 'Independence Day'. Keanu Reeves plays this young software developer that gets lured into a different dimension of reality. The plot is way too complicated to explain, actually, and I don't want to ruin it for anyone. But I will say this movie is a definite must-see.
The special effects were mind blowing; The plot was intense; The action scenes were out of this world; This is what movies are all about. The great thing about this movie was it was so unlike any movie I have ever seen before. It has never been done before, and I think it would be hard to do again (except for the sequel, obviously). This movie was one of those movies where you feel exhausted by the time you leave the theater because you are so drained emotionally. Yes, it was that good. This is a movie you cannot wait until it hits the video aisles. It truly is something you have to experience on the big screen. This was one bad-ass movie. I even went with my girlfriend who really had no intention of seeing it, and she loved it as well. It's not just a guy movie. It was for everyone, except for the kiddies. They would probably have nightmares about it (no joke). Anyway, see this movie. It was well worth seven and a half bucks (for once)!
