what's new

Well, much to our dismay, we lost the Sacramento Web Awards thing. Oh well, we'll get 'em next time, dammit! Seriously though, it really lit a fire under us to get the damn thing hosted (it's coming, it's coming!) - everyone laughed loudly when they saw those pop-up ads! Damn Geocities. We'll show them. We're also determined to get the shock (as in Shockwave) treatment - this will be one bad ass site before it's all over.
We're still looking for writers - we had a couple but they flaked on us. Oh well, C'est la vie. Once we get some free stuff from sponsors we can at least bribe you guys so we can prove to people somebody actually reads this!
By the way, we're almost at 11,000 hits in 11 months! Not bad considering we haven't advertised it anywhere yet. We'll have a mass marketing campaign soon, trust us.

Hey! We've got nominated as a FINALIST for the Sacramento Web Awards! I guess that generous cash donation actually paid off. We'll find out October 8th if we bring home the gold...
We think we've found a winner in our first annual Web Site Hosting Competition. Due to the strong performance in the swimsuit competition, Osiris Communications looks like a winner. We'll be getting hooked up through them soon. All those annoying pop-up ads (we know you love 'em) will be a thing of the past, to be replaced by... local ads! But don't bitch. We'll get you some free stuff. Well, we gotta go... Hopefully we'll win the award for Miss Congeniality at the Awards banquet!

Hey! We've got a discussion board up and running! Somebody got off their lazy asses and got it together! Hooray! So, if you're in the mood for discussing Sac State teachers, sports, whatever, it's all here now. Check it out.
Well, the 1999 Pepsi-Cola Causeway Classic (it had to happen sooner or later) is going to be on UPN 31 this year. It's September 18th for you Einsteins that don't know already. So get the barbeques ready and get to the parking lot early, 'cause Hornet Stadium is going to be... en fuego. Good luck with the semester, kiddies.

Well, school's right around the corner and new things are brewing for the season. You may have noticed a few changes with the layout of the page - We 86'd the old logo's (they were pretty cheezy), and replaced them with logos that more resemble a brighter shade of cheese. We also got rid of the Sac State artwork - nobody really liked them so we took it off. If you are looking for some stuff, let us know, we'll hook you up. We've got some big things coming up - we're going to have a Greek section, devoted to the Greek scene. It will be small but informative. No, we're not going to let you know who's throwing parties next weekend. That's for you to figure out.
We're going to be adding a few things for the fall - we'll be having a few message boards, with such stuff as what professors to take/what not to take, and a general graffiti board for you to sound off on things like how much Davis sucks, or why a certain president should retire. Look for it soon.

So far, so good, I guess. Thanks for everyone filling out the survey. It helped a lot. Actually, we got a ton of surveys right after the article in the Aggie Newspaper. Most of them said 'You guys suck', 'Davis Rules', stuff like that. It's nice to know that we're loved. We'll be posting the results of the survey pretty soon, as soon as we get around to it.
We got nominated for the Sacramento Web Awards. Feels good to be recognized, kinda. We'll find out in a month or so if we are a finalist, and if we are, we get to go to an awards banquet. Cool. We'll keep you posted.
Lots of people thought it would be a good idea to have some sort of message board up there for personals, selling stuff, teacher reviews, stuff like that, Not a bad idea at all. As soon as we get around to doing that too, it will be up there.
We're also going to have a few columnists on a semi-regular basis. We promise they'll all be a bunch of smart-asses, too. If you're a smart-ass and want to write for us, e-mail us at comments@sacstate.com. We'll probably publish you!

Well, new things are brewing in time for summer. We interviewed Matt Franks of SimonSays, Sacramento's latest band that's gone national. Everyone at Hollywood records was very helpful and we totally appreciate it. Look for Simon Says at the Real Rock Jamboree this month. We look to interview many more local and national celebs this coming year.
Now, the fun part of being a major website: Our first article published about us. The California Aggie, UCD's newspaper, published an article on June 4 about us... "SacState.com Takes Cheap, Predictable Shots at Davis"... Excellent. They apparently loved our section on why 'Davis Bites' and our top 10 list. I think we really got under their skin. They threw some low blows back. Let the chaos begin!

If you haven't noticed, we have been updating a little less frequently lately. Sorry about that, but we have lives too (and they pay more!). Anyway, don't fret, this place won't become a wasteland that is totally old and doesn't ever get updated. In fact, this is the plan - Fall '99 is going to be the date (we promise) that the site is big and bad. But in the meantime, we're looking for writers! Yes that's right, you can write for us and become a star on the internet (No, not that kind of star)! Click here for more details if you want to help out. Catcha later.
