This notification will serve to inform that a career opportunity exists at CH Television in Hamilton, Ontario.

There is an immediate full-time position available for a News Reporter. The successful candidate will report to Mike Katrycz, News Director.

CH Television’s News Department is proudly and intensely local, aggressively pursuing stories of interest and importance to the Hamilton, Halton and Niagara communities. Our news team of more than 70 full time and part time professionals produces more than 36 hours of news and information programming every week.

We have an excellent growth opportunity for an on-air reporter. You have worked in news for a minimum of two years developing strong editorial and storytelling skills. You are comfortable reporting live and working under tight deadlines. You take pride in accuracy, clarity and getting the story first.

  • Develop story assignments into compelling news reports
  • Contribute ideas to the story assignment process
  • Conduct interviews
  • Research and write scripts
  • Cultivate sources
  • Perform other duties as required
The successful candidate will:
  • Possess a minimum of two years of news experience
  • Possess a diploma or degree in journalism or related discipline
  • Possess strong organizational and personal skills
  • Possess a working knowledge of computers and the internet. Knowledge of ENPS is an asset.
  • Be prepared to work various shifts including weekends
  • A working knowledge of the Golden Horseshoe is an asset

Qualifications: The City of Regina is seeking a dynamic and creative individual for the position of General Manager of Public Affairs. The person we seek is a team player who has demonstrated strong leadership, management, communication, and interpersonal skills in public affairs management, and in the management of human and financial resources. This person will also have a university degree in journalism, public relations or a related discipline coupled with a minimum of five years progressive experience in public affairs, including experience in a supervisory role. GLOBAL QUEBEC

There is a full-time position available in the News Department for a Reporter. This position will report to the News Director. This position may require shift work.

Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a broadcast news reporter and a university degree in journalism or equivalent. The candidate must have a proven track record of live reporting, and be an experienced and creative story teller.

Applicants must be able to express themselves in quality language as required in English and French. Strong journalistic skills, punctuality, creativity, initiative, and a positive attitude are also required. The ability to work under stress to meet tight deadlines is essential.

  • Initiate and develop story and feature ideas through contact development, research and interviews;
  • Produce reports and features for all Global News & Information Programming;
  • Provide live on-camera coverage of special events;

  • Assist editors in production of story.
