Oh, gosh... Summer is my favourite time of year and I've been filling it with good stuff, some professional, much liesure. Spent 5 filthy and sleepless nights up at the Ness Creek music festival playing and hanging out. Mosquitos and musical heros and dreadlocked brats with drums... good fun. But that's not the highlight, no. Me and my mom jumped out of an airplane together last week, and I can tell you, until you've watched your 62-year-old mother clinging to the wing strut of a plane at 3000 feet, you haven't been nervous. Gawd! But we both lived and it was sooo beautiful floating above the ponds and genetically modified canola fields. Sigh. So anyway, I have 4 mini discs full of stuff from that that I'm trying to organize into an Out Front bit. I think they want to air it in September sometime. As it turns out, the YNN people I got hooked up with here are all into lots of projects other than news - this has resulted in me having a bit part in a short film one of them is making - weird. Most exciting of all (but unconfirmed) is the possibility that my friends and I may be opening for Martin Sexton in November. That probably means nothing to most of you, but to me it's a double 'Depends' situation. Aaaaagh! I may still be in Saskatoon this fall, depending on what settles out on the job scene - or back to Edmonton. I'm kind of liking it here. Tha's all.

Well, I was going to wait until I was rich and famous before providing any information about my professional status, but by that time i might be busy with my grandkids, too, so I guess I'll just give it up now.

So far, post-school journalism seems to involve a remarkable amount of drinking. I went to Regina to shoot a couple stories with ynn (the highschool thing) and found my alcohol tolerance pushed to its limits... The Hotel Sask will never be the same, I'm sure. Today I'm thinking I really like this line of work.

I also made some good contacts and I get the feeling so far that Saskatoon is fertile ground for freelancing... and debauchery. We did a story on Robert Sauchyn (thanks for that, Chad) and one on a local dancer auditioning for Disney. Truly inspiring fluff. These stories and any others I do will eventually be posted at ynn.ca.

Rattie is alive and well. Looking forward to hearing what everyone's up to.

As for Lisa Unrau, all I know is she was headed to Saskatoon in a big brown van filled with her worldly posessions the week after grad. I think she was going to be living with Sam until they decided what they will be doing and where they will end up. I could use some confirmation on this one!

Note: This is Chad. This seems very familiar to me. I seem to recall Lisa telling me as such during a conversation we had shortly before the grad party. We could still use some confirmation though.

And if I do recall, she was working for that youth internet network. I wonder if she is still with that gig?
