* July 1, 2000: I've just installed an Intellitronix digital instrument cluster available through JC Whitney or Summit Racing. The rewiring process is still going on. A 35 year old wiring harness is hard to tell what goes to where and which wire controls which circuit. And after reading the June issue of Mustang and Fords magazine (available from Peterson Publishing), I've decided that the transmission to go behind my 460 will be a Lentech AOD. Lentech has seemingly worked all the bugs out of Ford's Automatic Over Drive and built a slushbox capable of handling up to 1000 hp. And at around $2500, it is cheaper than a Gear Vendors OD unit ($3500, which would also require the rebuilding of my C-6 ($ka-ching$).

May 26, 2000:  Presently, the car is be rewired with the help of the fine people at Painless Products.  Their 18 circuit wiring harness (part number 10202) makes things a snap.  If only removal of the old wires was as easy.
The suspension is also being rebuilt with a kit from PST.  I even have their G-Max anti-sway bar for the front end.  The OE piece is a 7/16 inch unit while the new one is 1 - 1/8 inches.  There will be no problem keeping this beast on course with that kind of equipment.
New coil springs at all four corners are courtesy of Eaton Detroit Springs.  Thanks everyone for your help!

You've seen this before.  But when I'm done with it, you and everyone else will be seeing the other end of it.

Here's the current engine - an FE big block.  Emblems signify a 352, but currently a mid 70's 390 FT (Ford Truck) engine resides between the wheel wells.  There are no shock towers:  This behemoth has a coil-over front end and that's original equipment stock trim.  So get your pink slips while you can, because over the winter this beast is going to get a steroid injection in the form of a 385 series big block.  I've got the 460 cubic inch monster all planned out.  On Desktop Dyno, she made 613 pound feet of torque at 3500 RPM and 578 horsepower at 4500.  Using Desktop Dragstrip, this 460 propelled Big Red through the quarter in the mid 10's at nearly 120 mph.  So remember before you decide to choose me off, there is no replacement for displacement.  I won't let 5.0's humiliate themselves.
