Gamma Rho Chapter History

Started on March 3, 1994, the Gamma Rho Chapter has grown from a handful of brothers who got together to form their own small organization, to an organization of nearly 30 active members, and over 60 initiates. Surviving several mishaps and disappointments and overcoming many obstacles, the chapter has grown into a strong brotherhood and force here at Missouri Western State College. The early years were filled with problems, as well as excitement. Through dedication and hard work, the brothers have accomplished their biggest achievementsjust recently. We received our chartership on April 18, 1998, at the Ramada Inn in Kansas City, while celebrating the founding of the national fraternity. Members from all over the country came to celebrate with the brothers of Gamma Rho.

The chapter plans to continue to grow in numbers, while making a bigger impact on the Missouri Western campus and the community of St. Joseph over the coming years. Gamma Rho is involved in campus organizations, and performs community service activities each semester, while setting up fund-raisers to keep chapter dues low.

We have also begun making our impact at Missouri Western through intramurals, winning our first intra-mural football championship in the Fall of 1998. We have also increased the number of hours put into our community service and fundraising in the past year.

The fraternity has had a long and rich history on the national level, and the members of Gamma Rho chapter have begun making our own history. We are dedicated to maintaining the national recognition while making our chapter one of the best in the country, not only in Theta Xi, but also in all national fraternities.
