United Voices Chorale

History

The
United Voices Chorale, better known as UVC, is an Interdenominational organization which believes in the father, God; the son, Jesus; and the Holy Ghost. The United Voices Chorale is a gospel choir founded, under the leadership of Brother Dedric Jones, during Homecoming 1996 at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

As a direct result of its success during this event, the
choir continued to grow and flourish. UVC celebrated its first anniversary, November 14-16, 1997 with Pastor Brandon Porter of Memphis, Tennessee as its keynote speaker. Also participating were Apostle Lawrence Braggs of Trumpet In Zion Ministries of Little Rock, Supt. Joe L. Stocker of Main Street Church of God in Christ, Pine Bluff; Pastor Henry "Hank" Wilkins of St. James United Methodist Church, Pine Bluff; local groups, choirs, solists, and many others.

Since its inception, the
choir has been in concert with various artists such as: Ricky Dillard and New Generation Chorale, Odis Richmond, Jr. and Inner Court and Madame LuVonia Whittley, President of the International Music Department, Churches of God in Christ. The choir participated in the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) National Board Meeting held in Little Rock, Arkansas in March 1999.

We want to personally thank Chancellor Lawrence A. Davis, Jr. and the UAPB family for your encouragement and support as we strive to carry out our mission, "to bring young adults, from this university and nationwide, to know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior".
