Welcome to Sunny Jo's Communication page

My major is Communication. I chose this major because I like to write and work with media. More info about my studies will be posted later. While you are waiting, enjoy a poem I wrote as a part of a group project during my first semester:

SIX GIRLS AND A WHISK

- "Group project? Oh no, what shall we do?"
- "Don't ask me, I have no clue"
- "I want to sing"
- "I want to play"
- "Me sing? No way!"
To reach a decision, gee that was hard
Our diverse interests almost tore us apart

- "What can we do, which is easy and cheap?"
- "A newspaper fashion-show?"
- "OK, but I want to speak"
- "How shall we do this, when and where?"
- "Let's do it on campus, or somewhere near"

Many ideas, but hard to put through
- "I know what I want, but not what to do"
We used our brains, but with few results
- "I'm hungry, anyone wanna join me for lunch?"

Around the table, we talked about food,
Chatting and laughing like friends in a group
- "Hey gals! I got an idea,
why don't we cook instead?"
"Sure, sounds perfect for me"

Food is uniting, no doubt
To meet up and make it, we'll learn and grow
As strangers we all started off,
Insecure and nervous,
But soon talking and joking like old friends over a pop

Recipes were brought,
Ideas suggested
- "All that food?
Nope, it can't be digested"
After discussions and talks and several days,
We came up with a menu,
Suitable in many ways

The big day came up,
In Metrotown we met
Angela brought a blender,
Emily brought a cup

We went to the store, but a problem appeared:
- "The camera-batteries are dead, I need to recharge, but where?"
- "Let's go to my place and have lunch,
I'm sure the batteries are ready when we are done"

And so we did,
And as time went on
Around pizza and pop,
We created new friendship-bonds.

When we were ready,
We went down to the store
- "Do you have ice cream, or do we need more?"
Together we managed to fill our basket,
With milk and onions, and a cheese-cake packet

To Judy's house,
We all went in
I wonder what they thought,
Her next of kin

We split up in two,
With different tasks
Cooking and baking,
- "Oh no, the cheese-cake cracks!"

Some problems came up,
But were easily solved
Emergency solutions,
I think they are called

Several hours
Quickly passed by
We never noticed,
I wonder why

When dinner was ready,
And it was time to eat
We were so tired,
We could hardly stand on our feet.

But it didn't stop us
From enjoying the meal
Along the way, we had become close friends,
I could feel

What started off,
As a study task
Turned out to be a way to meet new friends,
And people behind the mask

As six girls from
A similar background
We realized that we weren't
As equal as it might sound

With different experiences
And cultures in our past
We could contribute
With our strengths to the task

And together we reached
The common goal
As a group we succeeded
Fulfilling our role

I know for sure,
I'll never forget
Angela, Karen, Emily, Judy and Farzana,
And the time I spent with them,
I do not regret

When we grew closer,
We all took a risk
We trusted each other,
Six girls and a whisk
