Mantodea. Praying Mantids. Praying mantids are predatory insectivorous insects. Together with the cockroaches (Blattodea) and the termites (Isoptera) they belong to the order Dictyoptera. The suborder Mantodea comprises about 1200 species worldwide with the greatest diversity in the tropics.
