Fall 1998 Pictures

The team that we brought up to the All-Minnesota Tournament in St. Paul.  We finished in fourth place in the Division II bracket in the Fall of '98.

Pete Lyle puts a move on a defender from Macalester College at the All-Minnesota Tournament.  He is backed up on the play by: Jeff DeBates, Brian Tesch, Mike Sweetman, Dave Ross, and Kyle Jarcho.

Macalester College runs into a strong Hellfish maul.  Junior Mike Sweetman attepts to rip the ball from the opponent.  He is backed up by(L-R) Jason Ernst (SO), Eddie Kidwell (FR), Matt Homuth (FR), Matt Rosdahl (JR), and Jeff DeBates (JR).

Hooker Dave Ross (FR) looks on as the Fighting Hellfish forwards attempt to steal the Macalester line-out.  Macalester went on to win the opening game of the 1998 All-Minnesota Tournament 0-5.  Also shown are Matt Homuth (FR), Niyi Williams (SO), and Kyle Jarcho (FR).

Here we are scrumming against South Dakota State University.  This was just the second match in the history of Fighting Hellfish rugby.  As you can see we hadn't yet purchased our uniforms so we had to wear their smelly, old jerseys.  This game was played at Brookings, SD.
