and welcome to my website.

I hope that you will find it's pages useful.   My name is Daniel J. Somers.  After spending the last few years in Letterkenny Institute of Technology studying computers and the like.  Where the internet had been an extension of my college education, I learned a lot from online faqs, forums and programming sites.  My main passion is for programming and web design.  That's what this site is dedicated to.

I have been programming since I was about, what 12 or so ?  Anyway I began on a Commodore 64 with Basic (urgh!).  I then learned some Machine code (ouch!), then in this order QBasic, C, Assembler, Pascal, VB, C++, Java, etc..  I believe what got me interested in programming (the C64) is what is neeeded to get people interested in programming today.  Playstations, XBoxes, Dreamcasts, N64, (I left some out) are okay for games, but where's the understanding ?  PCs in the home are never used to teach people to program, in fact code is so far from the desktop GUI environment that without prior knowledge of the fact, you could be forgiven for thinking that nothing has been coded.  Anyway, enough of this.  If you have a bit of programming knowlegde, share it.  If everyone keeps it to themselves, noone will know and we'll be left with programmers who only became programmers because they thought the money was good.

All files associated with a particular page/topic can be found on the downloads page.  You are free to use my code, so long as it stays in it's original format.  As with all source code, please read the information on this site concerning the particular file first before you use it.  If you make changes to the source in an effort to improve it, please let me know as it is my hope to give everybody a chance to understand and share this knowledge.  I'll of course give those involved full recognition on this site for their changes.
