THE COMMITTEES

Analecta promotes the literary community at UT, through such events like open-mic poetry nights, programs addressing the concerns of aspiring writers in the UT community about how they can get published (look for Liberal Arts Week coming early in April and the "So you wanna be a writer" program) and the annual publication of Analecta, the official UT student art & literary journal. Look for the writing contest starting early every fall semester and the publication of the journal each fall.

Life After College works to inform Liberal Arts students of all the opportunities beyond graduation and prepare them for these opportunities.

The careers committee works closely with the Liberal Arts Career Services office to inform liberal arts students of the opportunities beyond graduation and prepare them for these opportunities. >

Community Focus serves UT and the Austin community through promoting volunteerism as an integral part of a Liberal Arts education.

Academic Community acts as the liason between the administration and the students. It also develops programs to enhance the academic environment, fostering a sense of community among students and professors.

The Public Relations committee's primary responsibility is to design, print, and distribute creative publicity for all LAC activities. PR also works to establish a communication network throughout the College and University.

Study Abroad works closely with the UT Study Abroad office to inform students of study abroad opportunities and resources. SA is most well known for putting together the largest student-run Study Abroad Fair in the country.

In addition to these committees, Council members can and have in the past also formed a number of ad hoc committees, such as a Student Issues Committee and the Students for Academic Integrity Committee.
