November 1998    Code Blue Emergency System
    Those of us who have been around for a few years remember when the Vermillion used to have weekly references to the Code Blue Emergency Activation System in it's Crime Log.  But within the last year or so, we haven't seen anything.  When I asked a UP about it, he said that the system doesn't work anymore, except for only one station.  That sure makes me feel safe on campus at night.

April 1998            Greek Show
    For those of you who lived in the dorms or on-campus housing know what kind of a hassle the University Police can be.  They locked down the campus and kept everyone out while several thousand guests of the City of Lafayette were herded out of Girard park.  I could not report to work Sunday night and was penalized for it, even after calling my supervisor and telling him that the campus was locked down.  The University Police refused to let me on campus from Johnston St. to simply go to my room in Voorhies Hall.  No apology was made to the nearly 2,000 students who were incovenienced by this.  Watch out this spring.
