I am 20 years old, and I'm majoring in music education at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where I am a junior. I transferred from Illinois State last year because I like the music program at Wartburg better.
At Wartburg, I sit sixth chair in the Wind Ensemble's flute section. There are eight flutists in our band. We will be touring Colorado in Spring 2000. I also take flute lessons and participate in various other activities, like the flute choir SilverSounds. I tried playing in Pep Band, but there was this boy flutist who drove me nuts! My little sister also plays flute in the WCCB with me. She's fourth chair, but that's only because she has lessons more often than I do and actually has time to practice (she just STARTED college...).
I am from East Peoria, Illinois. I graduated from East Peoria Community High School in 1997 in a class of 252. My favorite part of high school was Mr. Sheldon the band director (yes, I'm a band nerd). Mr. Sheldon composes music and he travels all over the world guest conducting. It's thanks to him that I have come to love music so much.
My family consists of my Dad (Mark), my Mom (Lois), my sister and best friend (Angie, age 17), my brother (Steve, age 15), and most importantly my dog (Snicker).
I don't do much more than sit around, but I stay happy. I play flute, read (magazines and short stories), write (I'm on a short story kick right now, but I also write some poetry and music), listen to music (any type of music except country), start fires (I swear it was an accident!), mess around on my computer, and do my homework. This summer I worked at Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center in Oregon, Illinois and learned lots of stuff about teaching, kids, teaching kids, and so much more about myself and my world. It was one of the nicest summers of my life. I also like boys. I especially like cute boys that sing while wearing tuxedos...
I like butterflies a lot too. But you may have figured that out by now.
