It's that time of year again....

The smell of the fresh cut grass, the roar of the crowd, the thunder of tackles. Football returns to Europe ! We'll shout, we'll scream , we won't believe our eyes, as we marvel , curse , disown and pray for our own team during each and every game. The touchdown runs, the bombs, the interceptions, the fumbles - it's all back. As the great Marv Levy used to say

Where would you rather be than Right Here Right Now ? !

For Week 1 in Europe is something very special indeed. No one has any idea who will reach the World Bowl. There are no elite teams ala the 49ers, Packers, Broncos nor weak links (with the exception of England I suppose !). It's all up in the air - and perhaps that's good as it brings excitement.

So what will Blunt Views be bringing you all this year ? Well we decided not to publish Blunt Views on paper. We are part of the Internet community and we will stay here. We'll be running another bunch of articles with some more interesting ideas. Armchair GM will be back. Of course there's the WLAF Days page with all our old thoughts and views. The excellent Levi 'Stato' Ramsey will be providing more predictions than you can shake a big stick at. Alan will be taking somewhat of a back seat this year as he finishes his Degree leaving Doug to take on the role once more of site maintainer.

But that's more of the same old stuff I hear you say. What's NEW ? Well.... we only have one totally brand new thing to bring you this year it's something very special and is actually maintained off our site at Doug's Personal HomePage region.

There is also the proposed Claymores 98 Cheerleaders rendition of "Wanna Be a Claymore" you read that right. If everything works out the Cheerleaders will be singing that all-time Claymores Classic written by BV's own Alan Gibson. This should be at the second home game of the Claymores.

What else ? You want more ? Come it's not as if we get paid for any of this !

  • The now Traditional BV editor's trip to a Claymores away game. This year BV (with banner and maybe even T-shirts) will be visiting England to see the Claymores take on the Monarchs.
  • A few more comedy pages including "How to Date a Cheerleader"
  • The Blunt Views Flag Football team may even be formed this year for all those who read our pages - if you are interested e-mail us
  • Anything else we come up with in the meantime.

    One thing we won't have this year will be our own match reports. Instead of in-depth reports we will just be covering the matches we manage to see on TV and live and giving a review of what we felt was important.
