A quick Blunt reView of week 4.

The game we had all been waiting for... the one to turn around a season...

WE WERE PANTS !

Final Score
England 14 - Claymores 10

It was billed as a war between the auld enemy... So to keep up that theme we turn now to our WAR-Correspondent....

Cue BBC voice over with images from Sunday.
It is said that the first casualty of war is the truth. Here in Birmingham that old adage is still found to be true. Supposedly 6,000 witnesses where present at a battle between two camps of troops. To this reporters eyes that number seems to be an over estimation.

It had been expected that the difference in the battle would be the Scottish Air Attack, which would once more be in synch with the re-introduction of Cooper. However when the lead triggerman became the first of 6 critical casualties for the Scots the battle looked to be almost lost. The Scots then relied on use of ground troops for the rest of the battle, as they could no longer achieve air superiority.

However while the initial advances for the Scots brought a great moral boost for their public it was not enough to overcome the numerous casualties they sustained. With their key troops decimated the Scots final advance fell short within striking distance of a famous victory. The English survived the assault and won the battle aided in part by incredibly fortuitous scrimmages, where the intervention of peacekeeping forces altered critical outcomes.

The outcome of the battle was not only a decisive loss for the Scots - one that crippled and decimated any hope of winning the full European war - it resulted in serious levels of casualties within their troops. With almost 1/3 of the troops injured at this moment any hope of victory in the near future is remote.

The casualties were not limited to the troops. The reserve force of pro-active partisan civilians who had supported the main Scots force on the battlefield were dealt a horrific moral boost. It is believed that the general civilian casualties back in Scotland could be massive with up to 2,000 failing to make the Murray-battle-field.

Cut back to studio....

Well not that we could make that much out from our poor vantage point (not that we actually wanted to see anything towards the end. There is only so much pain and suffering a fan can take) but in the tradition of showing that a three year old who's only football experience is playing Madden on a mega-drive from 1992 can call plays better than Jim Socher it's time for.....

Boneheaded Coaching Call of the Week

Most of them after the first drive....

Yet we did manage to spot a couple which seemed to be well... boneheaded. So it's a tie.

How about 3rd and 14... in our own half... so we call a.... DRAW ! Mmmm that's gonna get us the 14 yards. Oh wait no it won't.

Or the killer call - on the final drive of the game for the Claymores that could decide the match it we score a TD. 3rd and 1 inside the Monarchs 14. Quarterback sneak ? A pitch/swing pass/run to the outside ? A leaping jump ? No - fine that Bender was injured and playing hurt, so perhaps the jump is out of the question. But a right to the outside when they expect a middle push... might just make it. A Quarterback sneak ? You've seen the mountain range that we put shirts on to become our o-line right ? All they have to do is fall over forwards..... But NO... Those calls might just work ! We have to run a DRAW... up the middle. A draw ? Mmmmm that's good because we want to give their d-line time to move forward and plug holes.... NOT! Come on ! That one cost us the game (well the uncalled pass interference on the next play was the final nail).

Between the boneheaded calls, the massive injury list including Bender, Philyaw, Hunt, Macik, Cooper, Riley, Resse and most worrying... Ballard... Blunt Views will probably be helping at the fan trials on Thursday after the Fans meeting in the Cambridge. All we ask is for a Doctors note so we can make sure that you too have 50/50 chance of making injury list with the rest of the team.

And yeah I am sickened by the state of the team. But who actually wants to win the WorldBowl ? Oh wait... we do... just not this year.
