The Final Trip of 1999

A lovely Fall day. We paddled up the North River, 16 people in 8 canoes, for a picnic.

We landed on Blueberry Island, lit a fire (your Web Master is by the fire in the blue hat) and started lunch. Who remembers how many hotdogs Bear lost in the fire?

Then for a game of all terrain bocci. The girls won 11 to 3!!!!!!!

As the day went along we noticed a dock floating up river on the tide. Every boat we saw after that we joked that they were looking for their run away dock. The tide turned and we were thinking about heading home and decided it was time as the dock was now going out with the tide. Bear and Paul decide to check out the dock. I said that we should put the women's chairs on the dock and have the men tow us! After all we had won the bocci game. {grin} Well, everyone laughed but the boy/girl thing was a thing of the past. Some of the guys wanted to be on the dock. Some of the women wanted to paddle with their husbands. There are two kinds of Wampies: Those on the Dock and those in Canoes. (you can be either/or as this trip had 8 people on the dock and 8 people in canoes.)

The Zanie Wampies push off and wonder Where to sit? The Dock People named their Dock SWAMP THING! We Paddled and paddled under the command of Captain Joe and his first mate! Why Captain Joe abanded his stripper canoe, we may never know (His wife George was on the Dock with the rest of us bocci floozies.)

Swamp Thing! You make our heart sing! You make the whole crew groovey! Wild thing!

There is nothing more frightening than a Wampie on a sugar high!
