AA Girls players to watch this season
This is a list of some players who should have outstanding seasons:
Katie Norman
-Aberdeen Central High School. Katie is a 5'6" guard who has started for the Golden Eagles since her sophomore year and is a very solid perimeter player. She has 3 point range and can handle the ball very well. She was All-ESD in 1996 and helped lead her team to the1996 and 1997 State AA Tournament
Rebecca Goodman
-Aberdeen Central High School. Rebecca is a 5'5" senior guard who will be in her 4th season as a varsity player, 3rd as a starter for the Golden Eagles. Rebecca is probably one of the quickest players in the state and is a very tenatious defender.
Kristin Rausch
-Riggs High School(Pierre). Kristin is 5'11" senior who leads a very talented and athletic Pierre team. Kristin is experienced and will cause tough match-up problems for defenders, helped lead the Lady Govs to a runnerup finish in the 1997 State AA Tournament.
Erin Schiefelbein
-Riggs High School(Pierre). Erin is 5'10" senior who is another key to a talented and athletic Pierre team. Erin is experienced and will cause tough match-up problems for defenders, helped lead the Lady Govs to a runnerup finish in the 1997 State AA Tournament.
Erin Nielsen
-Riggs High School(Pierre). Erin is 5'11" senior who is another Pierre weapon. Erin is experienced and will cause tough match-up problems for defenders, helped lead the Lady Govs to a runnerup finish in the 1997 State AA Tournament.
Heather Nelson
-Yankton High School. Heather is a 5'10" senior forward who was an integral part of the 1996 Yankton team which finished 22-1 and won the 1996 State AA Championship. Her experience and outstanding athletecism will make her a very solid player.
Holly Bordewyk
-Rapid City Stevens High School. Holly is a 6'1" center who is a very strong post player. She helped the Raiders to a 4th place finish in the 1996 State AA Tournament.
Stacey Schooley
-Watertown High School. Stacey is a 5'9" senior guard who is very athletic. She can defend very well and is a threat to score from the perimeter or from inside on offense. She will be a 3 year starter for the Arrows and helped them to a 3rd place finish in the 1996 State AA Tournament.
Mandy Kappel
-Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School. Mandy is a 5'8" junior guard who has started for the Roughriders since she was an 8th grader, helping her teams to 2 consecutive undefeated regular seasons and a 2nd place finish in the 1996 State AA Tournament and a State AA Championship in 1997. She is a very smart player who controls the game.
Randi Morgan
-Mitchell High School. Randi is a 6'1" junior post player who is a 3 year starter for the Kernels. She is very strong in the post and will be responsible for carrying a lot of the offensive load for Mitchell.
Sarah Hoffman
-Mitchell High School. Sarah is a 5'9" senior who is very athletic. She is a returning starter for the Kernels and will be looking to lead her team back to the state tournament.
Lindsey Schneiderman
- Brandon Valley High School. Lindsey is a 5'11" junior guard who already has 2 years of varsity experience behind her. She is fundamentally solid, very quick, and a good perimeter shooter. She will cause problems for defenses due to her size and speed.
Shana Theobald
-Brookings High School. Shana is a 5'11" senior forward who will be tough for opponents to match up with. She can play inside and outside and helped her team to the 1996 and 1997 State AA Tournament
Megan Mahoney
- Sturgis High School. Megan is a 5'11" sophomore guard who has been named All-State for 2 years. She is fundamentally solid, very quick, and a good perimeter shooter. She will cause problems for defenses due to her size and speed. Megan helped lead her team to the 1997 State AA Tournament
Amber Abrams
- Rapid City Central High School. Amber is a 6'0" senior post player who has been a two year starter for the Cobblers. She is very handy in the paint and will look to lead her team back to the State AA Tournament this year.
