Barry Martinelli - Centre

Sault Greyhounds 1971-72
Martinelli played Centre for the Hounds during their final season in the NOHA.

He was originally from Sault Ste. Marie.

Martinelli attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York (other alumni include Joe Juneau and Adam Oates) and was the teams leading scorer for three consecutive seasons between 1973 and 1976. Martinelli was elected to the Rensselaer Sports Hall of Fame after he graduated in '76.

Martinelli coached the Trondheim Icehockey Club in 1990-91.

Martinelli enjoyed a sucessful career as head coach of the University of Western Ontario Mustangs. In 1999, he was chosen to coach Team Canada at the World University Games in Slovakia. Martinelli is currently Manager of Athletics at UWO.
