What you see before you is some of the finished art for BodySlam: TheComic.

BodySlam is a character I created back in 1992 for a DC Heroes Role Playing Game. BodySlam started out as a super strong/super hero who also happened to be a professional wrestler. The game was a lot of fun, and it helped me develope the character into who he is today. In 1994, several friends and I got together and decided to publish a comic book. The comic book would feature 4 different stories, with four different characters. Since art is not my thing, I was asked to write for the book. I had a hard time thinking of what kind of story or character I wanted to do, but the idea popped into my head about using BodySlam. I had always liked comic books & pro wrestling, but unfortunately most of the comic books that were about pro wrestlers, sucked really bad. So, I thought to myself that this would be the chance to show people that you CAN make an intersting character out of a pro-wrestler.

The name of our comic was Rough Cut, and it was printed in April of 1994 and sold over 2500 copies nationwide. It actually reached issue #2 before the group disolved due to creative differences. Luckily my story "BodySlam: Nice Guys Finish Last" was featured in the first issue. The story is about BodySlam in a bar getting drunk because his manager cost him his chance at the heavy wt. championship. BodySlam's night of drinking is interupted by a man who runs into the bar screaming , and carrying a briefcase. Following the man into the bar is a bare-chested, heavily tatooed man named Sygil. Sygil attacks the man with the briefcase, and in doing so spills liquor on BodySlam's tights. Well since BodySlam wasn't in a good mood anyway, a fight insues.....you'll have to read the story to find out how it ends.

To my initital surprise BodySlam was well liked by many people. I attended many comic conventions and promotional signings, and I was amazed at how many people liked the character, and especially liked the fact that he was a pro-wrestler. This encouraged me to write more stories about BodySlam's exploits, and is the basic idea behind BodySlam: The Comic, which will be a full length 32 page B&W Comic, with a full color cover.

The artist on the comic is Dirk Hooper a very good friend of mine, and as you can see, a very good artist. Inking is being handled by another good friend, Shawn Wilson. Who is also a very good artist in his own right. I myself do the lettering on the comic. The comic will mainly deal with BodySlam's life as a pro-wrestler and the crazy adventures he gets into. I am very into character development and storyline, as well as action and humor. The comic will have all of these elements.

BodySlam: The Ashcan! was printed in August 1998 for the San Diego Comic-Con. It was handed out as a free preview to the comic, and it was well received.
