S.S.C. Napoli was founded on August the first 1926, at first Napoli did not get very far in Italian football but soon became famous for its passionate supporters and became the most competitive side from the south of Italy. Through its history Napoli achieved some good finishes in the league and had won two Italian Cups by the time Diego Armando Maradona was signed in 1984. It was Maradona who changed Napoli for the better, his unique talent and skill led Napoli to two scudetti in 1987 and 1990, a UEFA Cup in 1989, an Italian Cup in 1987 and an Italian Supercup in 1990. Napoli made history as the first team from the south to win the scudetto which was always usually won by one of the big three of Italian football Juventus, Milan and Inter. Since Maradona's departure in 1991 the club has gone slowly into decline and is now fighting it out in Serie B to regain a place among Italy's elite after selling several key players to ease the club's finances. Napoli may not be the team it once was but its fans still exist all over the globe and are desperate for the glory days again. Always Forza Napoli!
