MOTD Figures
In 1999 MOTD magazine approached Corinthian to make 4 figures for them to give way with their 1 year subscriptions. In their magazine recently it tells this story:
Two blokes ringing up and asking for 50 subscriptions each. At the time the staff thought they had lost the plot, but it turns out there was a method behind their madness. The figures of Yorke, Adams, Shearer & Fowler in their away strips now fetch £10 to £17 each, so signing up for all those mags has proved a wise investment.
What the magazine doesn’t tell you is that there were 5000 of these sets made in all, but only 700 subscriptions were taken up. That would make these figures very rare and well worth £17 each but 3000 sets were sold in one go to someone and who knows what will happen to them or to the other 1300 sets.
