Weekly Headlines

John Carroll opened the 00-01 season in a new rink, in a new league and in the first year of it's rank in ACHA DI.  With all that hoopla the Streaks played their good old Toledo U in a home in home series that was reminiscent of the days of the MCHL.  Carroll handed the Rockets a beating twice by scores of 6-3 and 9-2.  Leading the way for the Streaks was Junior Pat Harte who scored twice in both games, Sophomore Brent    Kallay racked up two points a game and Sophomore George Strasbaugh scored twice Friday and tallied 4 assists on         Saturday.  My sources tell me that Junior Jon Liba showed his true colors Saturday Night and they were pretty much in line with the Blue and 'Yellow' Gold the Streaks wear.  Insiders also say that both games were relatively quiet and the Streaks should probably have done some more damage than they did.  Senior Captain Mike Riebe is rumored to be OK after the heavy hit he took Friday and should be on the ice to lead the Streak Friday.  In the end the two-game set won't move the Streaks up in the ACHA DI standings but was a good warm-up for the team.

With the Rockets swept under the rug and the Streaks off to a 2-0 start the Streaks will welcome ECHL member Syracuse to Gilmour in the first-ever ECHL contest for the Streaks, Friday night at 8:30 pm.  Be sure to click on  the ECHL page on the top toolbar and click on the Orangemen logo and check out the SU site, it's pretty cool.  Good-luck Streaks!
