Other team members: Barry "BB" Brittain Maroochydore A team of triathletes, Maroochydore's high standard of performance often went unnoticed due to their captain's distracting hair gel creations. Maroochydore was incredibly unlucky in not making the 1986 Round 2 Semi-Final; going into the final round they needed only a third position pass through. With 10 state points and a heat in hand, only Jindalee with 11 points stood in their path. It came down to their final event, 'Mountain Climbing', on which captain Walsh courageously banked his Joker. Going into that event, Maroochydore had 4 points, Vic. 11, N.S.W. 14 and S.A. 10. They needed the eight points to draw ahead of Victoria and/or South Australia. As keen IAK observers would realise though, South Australia never loses at Mountain Climbing and maintained their record. Maroochydore finished second and gained four (Joker doubled) points for their troubles and thus missed out on a Semi-Final berth.

Captain: Jim "slickback" Walsh
Vice-Captain: Peter Hooke (teacher)
Other team members: Bruce Swan, Carol Walsh, Margaret Poncini (Is this the same Margaret Poncini that won the race up the Rialto in 1986?) Rockhampton Pic Pic Pic Pic Pic

Captain: Bill Lansbury (Not to be confused with the lesser-known television personality Angela)
Vice-Captain: Andrew Ryder, who plays basketball (not netball as Fiona MacDonald suggested(!))
Other team members: Tracy Irvine, Cathy Weatherall -- probably the most useless individual competitor in the history of IAK, especially against Andrew Sloan (SA) in "Pillowfight" Childers Pic Pic Pic Pic Pic

Childers was one of the all-time-winningest IAK teams, spearheaded by John Harbourne. Childers won its first three meets convincingly but then finished last at their final meet.

Captain: John Harbourne (painter)
Vice-Captain: Steve Loder
Other team members: Sandra Counters, Max "Hanky" Henkie (emerg.), Pam Harbourne, Susan Dilger Springwood Pic

Springwood was a relatively young team, with all team members in their mid-20's. Despite their youth Springwood often had problems with the "scoreboard not working". Springwood's 15 minutes of fame was in "Pop the Cork" when the team won the maximum possible eight points. Unfortunately Springwood failed to score for the remainder of that competition.

Captain: Greg Thomas
Vice-Captain: Ross Cumming
Other team members: Sandra Thomas, Donna Cumming, Glen Anderson, Julie Bumstead Wynnum-Manly Captain:
Vice-Captain:
Other team members: Daisy Hill Pic Pic Pic Pic Pic Pic

Although Daisy Hill did win a $25,000 Grand Final of IAK, they were by no means the best team to have graced the screens of the show.

A group of Arts and Science students from UQ, St. Lucia faced up against Sydney City, a group of P.E. students from Sydney Uni, and performed quite respectably. Led by the able Caroline Zollinger, the team performed admirably in 'Save the Fire Chief', an obstacle course and vertical wall event.
