UNIVERSAL INKS DEAL WITH CASH MONEY RECORDS
New York, New York, June 18, 1998 - Universal Records has entered into an exclusive agreement with New Orleans-based Cash Money Records, it was jointly announced today by Universal's President of Black Music Jean Riggins and Cash Money founders Bryan "Baby" Williams andRonald "Godfather"
Williams.
As part of their agreement, Universal will provide distribution, marketing and promotion Support for Cash Money artists. Initial releases will include Big Tymers, B.G., Juvenile and Lil' Wayne.
"Bryan and Ronald are true
entrepreneurs, and their track record in discovering and developing artists from the ground up is the ground up is extraordinary," stated Riggins. "We look forward to helping Cash Money and its roster grow even further."
"Universal has assembled a great team," added Bryan and Ronald. "This agreement will allow us to take Cash Money to the
next level, while preserving the integrity and credibility of our artists."
Cash Money Records was founded in 1991 by the Williams brothers, who have successfully turned the upstart label into a creative force within the independent marketplace. Rounding out Cash Money's roster are the Hot Boys and producer Manny Fresh, among others.
