Grim reaper visits ACTING CAPTAINS again
ACTING CAPTAINS need to regroup after disappointing loss
Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources
12 ACTING CAPTAINS (0-5)
• Robbie Gould - 44g 36g FG

29 TOEJAMMS (3-2)
• Matt Schaub - 294 pass yards
• LaDainian Tomlinson - 73 rec yards
• Torry Holt - 11c TD
• Kellen Winslow - 14c TD
• Rian Lindell - 24g 54m FG
(10/9/2007) — Lineup troubles continued for beleaguered coach George K, whose confidence was shaken after watching the ACTING CAPTAINS score the league’s lowest total of the week with just 12 points.

Matt Schaub failed to find the end zone for the first time this season. Schaub completed 20 of 34 passes for 294 yards. Torry Holt turned in his best game of the season with 5 catches for 89 yards and a touchdown. Kellen Winslow just missed scoring a touchdown on the final play of the game and had to settle for one score and 4 catches for 49 yards.

"I was almost sure we weren't going to win," TOEJAMMS coach Coach said. "The play calling in the fourth quarter -- wow! When our backs were to the wall, they worked to perfection. For me to throw it on fourth-and-4 was really shocking."

Matt Leinart's season got worse this week with a broken collarbone that will keep him out 6 to 8 weeks. Leinart completed 7 of 13 passes for 100 yards before leaving the game.

"Playoffs? Playoffs! Are you kidding me? Playoffs?" ACTING CAPTAINS coach George K said. "Shhhh! I'm trying to figure out how we are going to win another game."

LOS VATOS sucking wind after losing offensive battle
Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources
43 LOS VATOS (2-3)
• Jason Campbell - 7t 8t TD
• Neil Rackers - 50g 39m 32g FG
• San Diego O/D - 23sf TD

48 WOGG DOGGS (2-3)
• David Carr - 17t TD
• Brandon Jacobs - 100 rush yards, 19r TD
• Larry Fitzgerald - 136 rec yards, 7c TD
• Jason Witten - 103 rec yards, 22c TD
• Antonio Gates - 113 rec yards, 9c TD
• Jason Elam - 30g FG
(10/9/2007) — The WOGG DOGGS beat the LOS VATOS 48-43 behind 10 points from RB Brandon Jacobs in a hotly contested matchup that went down to the wire.

Brandon Jacobs finally returned to the lineup this week and didn't disappoint owners by rushing for 100 yards and scoring on 19-yard run. Larry Fitzgerald had another good outing this week, catching 5 balls for 124 yards including his first score of the season. Jason Witten's fine season continued on Monday night as he pulled in 9 receptions for over 100 yards and a touchdown.

"You build your fantasy football program with every means at your disposal," WOGG DOGGS coach John D said after the close win. "Philosophically speaking, it's an interesting debate whether a quarterback or running back is most important, but for our fans, the rivalry will be the real story.

Jason Campbell came back strong from his bye week with season highs in completions (23 of 29 for 248 yards) touchdowns (2), and passer rating (125.28). Campbell had no turnovers for the second game in a row. Edgerrin James got plenty of touches this week, but he averaged a season low 3.4 yards per carry. James finished with 88 yards on 26 carries.

"That was, by far, the most gifted offense I've ever played against, seen or heard of," said LOS VATOS coach Mark R. "I don't know what the head coach told those boys, but from the first game to this game, I think they went out and got 11 new guys on offense. I've never seen such a transformation."

IMPALERS cut down STORM, improve to 4-1
Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources
29 STORM (3-2)
• Ronnie Brown - 114 rush yards, 3r TD
• Dallas Clark - 10c TD
• Jeff Wilkins - 46g 35g 31g FG

48 IMPALERS (4-1)
• Tony Romo - 309 pass yards, 22t 4t TD
• Maurice Jones-Drew - 52r TD
• Matt Stover - 26g 32g 49g FG
• New England O/D - 15df TD
(10/9/2007) — After hours of film study, the IMPALERS crafted a plan that handled everything the STORM could throw at them, winning 48-29 and improving their record to 4-1.

Tony Romo threw for over 300 yards and a touchdown, but the big story was his 6 turnovers. For faithful owners, Maurice Jones-Drew finally came through. After 3 miserable weeks Jones-Drew exploded for 112 yards of offense including a 52-yard touchdown.

"Those guys are 0-and-whatever, but they're playing hard," said Dan P, who made several good calls this week. "When a team plays hard, good things are going to happen, and it almost happened today. Another good player or two, and we're talking about how bad we are, and we're the laughingstock or whatever."

Ronnie Brown's stock rose again this week as he rushed for 114 yards, grabbed 5 receptions for 39 yards and scored his fifth touchdown of the season. Dallas Clark played short ball with Peyton Manning this week, catching 7 balls for 49 yards and a 10-yard score. Vince Young had a rough outing on Sunday, completing 20 of 33 passes for just 157 yards and no scores.

"One thing I said before we went out there was, 'Let's use the run game," STORM coach Brian H said. "We weren't in a panic situation."

NATURE BOYZ bury T-BONE CRUSHERS
Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources
18 T-BONE CRUSHERS (4-1)
• Steve Smith - 17c TD
• Adam Vinatieri - 27g 35g FG

33 NATURE BOYZ (3-1-1)
• Brett Favre - 322 pass yards, 41t TD
• Stephen Gostkowski - 20g 25g FG
(10/9/2007) — Quarterbacks seem to get all the credit. This game was no different as Brett Favre scored 15 points leading the NATURE BOYZ to a 33-18 victory over T-BONE CRUSHERS.

Entering Monday night's game, Brett Favre was this week's only quarterback to throw for over 300 yards (29 of 40 for 322 yards); and he has done it 3 games in a row now.

"After we hit those two plays, we didn't see those blitzes the rest of the day," NATURE BOYZ coach Ron S bragged.

Steve Smith is racking up any huge numbers with Delhomme out of the lineup. Smith managed just 4 catches for 47 yards and a touchdown this week. Jon Kitna laid a big goose egg this week with 106 yards, no scores, and two interceptions.

"We didn't play well," T-BONE CRUSHERS coach Coach said, a pat response to the three times the media questioned the lineup decision.

QB Tom Brady leads TECHNOIDS over WHERE'S THE BEEF
Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources
36 TECHNOIDS (3-1-1)
• Tom Brady - 265 pass yards, 34t 7t 25t TD
• Plaxico Burress - 124 rec yards, 53c TD
• Greg Jennings - 41c TD

23 WHERE'S THE BEEF (2-3)
• Drew Brees - 252 pass yards
• Reggie Bush - 52 rec yards
• Braylon Edwards - 110 rec yards
• Mason Crosby - 37g 37g FG
(10/9/2007) — QB Tom Brady had a big game scoring 17 points as TECHNOIDS beat WHERE'S THE BEEF 36-23.

Tom Brady turned in his lowest QB rating of the season (105.7), which was plenty good for owners this week. Brady threw for 265 yards and found the end zone three more times. Plaxico Burress is doing everything in his power to be the most valuable wide out this season. Burress scored for the fifth week in a row while grabbing 5 balls for 124 yards. Greg Jennings is quietly moving up the fantasy rankings by posting his third productive game in a row. Jennings scored a 41-yard touchdown and finished with 4 receptions for 83 yards.

"I am really proud of the way that Tom Brady handled the game and also the way the players around him stepped up, which is what has to happen," TECHNOIDS coach Dan L said. "This was a huge comeback for us and a huge character game."

Drew Brees is still trying to get into the top 30 QB rankings for most leagues after going scoreless for the third time this season. Brees threw for 252 yards and was picked twice. Braylon Edwards didn't have any big touchdowns this week, but he still gave owners 6 receptions for 110 yards. Reggie Bush showed some life this week with 21 carries for 67 yards and 9 receptions for 52 yards. It was Bush's first 100-yard game of the season.

"I have been very reliable for us, and for whatever reason didn't get it done today," WHERE'S THE BEEF coach Chris J said. "I don't think that is the entire reason we lost."

GALLOPING GESTOPOZ come up short, lose 27-12
Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources
12 GALLOPING GESTOPOZ (1-4)
• Sammy Morris - 102 rush yards
• Willie Parker - 102 rush yards
• Jason Hanson - 39g FG

27 BROKEN BONES (2-3)
• Reggie Wayne - 9c TD
• Vincent Jackson - 15c TD
• Nate Kaeding - 26g 45g FG
(10/9/2007) — K Nate Kaeding led the BROKEN BONES over the GALLOPING GESTOPOZ 27-12 in a classic matchup.

Vincent Jackson caught just 3 balls this week but turned them into 84 yards and a touchdown. Reggie Wayne scored his fourth touchdown of the season on Sunday, but his yardage numbers are still down. Wayne finished with 62 yards, his fourth sub-100 game in a row.

"We were sputtering so bad on offense and misfiring, and we had to make a play. I knew if we were going to win the game, we had to make one of those plays," BROKEN BONES coach Jim L said.

Sammy Morris looked comfortable as the feature back this week, rushing for 102 yards on 21 carries and catching 2 balls for 9 yards. Willie Parker rushed for over 100 yards for the fourth time this season, but he still can't seem to find the end zone. Parker's only score came in week two. Matt Hasselbeck was kept in check all day Sunday as he completed 13 of 27 passes for a paltry 116 yards and no scores.

"I'm not going to answer questions about whether my job is safe," GALLOPING GESTOPOZ coach C J said trying to hold it together. "My team is playing hard and hasn't quit."
