What is the ride?: A 6-hour mountain bike ride over a marked course. 3 hours in the daylight and 3 hours at night. Ride by yourself or in teams, ride to finish or ride to win ? your choice. Riders generally take turns to do 1 or 2 laps at a time of the 5.5k course. For those who don?t fancy the big hill there is an alternative course that avoids it!

What is the deal with the RFDS?: The RFDS is an indispensable part of live in regional Australia and especially here in the North West. You never know when you or a loved one may need their help to get to medical assistance. As mountain biking is one of those activities that could result in you needing the RFDS we thought it would be a great idea to use the ride to raise funds to keep the RFDS flying. At least $5 from every entry will go to the RFDS and you can nominate to donate more if you wish.

What do you need?: A team of other riders(recommended), a mountain bike (doesn?t need to be flash), lights (front and rear) for night riding, helmet.

What else would be helpful?: A bit of practise, spare tubes and pump, the ability to ride 5.5km at a time (1 lap), support crew to praise and encourage & provide you with cool drinks and hot food etc, gloves, sunglasses/night glasses.

Why would you do it?: Fun, achievement, win prizes, be eligible for the mountain bike that is on offer as a spot prize, that sort of thing.

What will be provided?: Parking space for support vehicles and supporter tents, sausage sizzle, information. Icy cold Sports and Soft Drinks will be on sale.

Take the ultimate Challenge: Ride the Solo Ironman/Woman category. New for this year: all solos must ride over the hill on each lap!

What now?: Organise a team, fill in the entry forms (click here to download), drop them into Scott Cycles or a committee member before 4:30pm Friday 12th Sept, turn up on the day.
