Apparently Grant Hackett is going to start part-time training with Pieter Van Den Hoogenband's coach, according to SBS World News.
Ian Thorpe is trying
to get a role on his favourite tv show - Friends. Since the Olympics he has
become friends with Elle MacPhearson who appeared on the sitcom for a few
episiodes and she is reportedly helping him with his aim of appearing on the
show. Since the Olympics Ian's supporter base has hugely increased with a
significant amount of fans now from America so, who knows, maybe he'll get
on.
The director of smash hit mive Charlie's Angels has been asking about Ian Thorpe and is apparently wanting Ian to appear in one of his movies.
There has been much talk of wheter of not Ian will accept an offer to study at Sydney Univerisity next year even though he hasn't finished school. Some people think that he doesn't have the right ot go straight to University and others say that he's done enough for the country to deserve it. Ian says he doesn't want to take anyone else's place that has finished school.

I am assuming this is because he wants to improve on his short distance swimming while his current coach, Dennis Cotterell, is a long distance expert. I am also assuming that this will be part of Grant's preperation for the FINA World Championships in July 2001. Grant will still continue to train with Dennis.
UPDATE - Back from america it is now reproted that Ian has go onto the show but only his feet will be shown because of something to do with the unions in America - so I guess he's made it in Hollywood.
Grant Hackett is currently dating fellow swimmer Tammy Seminov, from Sydney. They met at the Sydeny Olympic trials and have been dating since. Tammy didn't qualify for Olympics but where regulary seen together there.
