The 1994 Albert Gallatin Baseball Colonials

The 1994 Albert Gallatin Colonials were the first team, since the consolidation, to win in the WPIAL playoffs. After clinching a playoff spot by defeating Uniontown 4-0, the Colonials defeated the highly favored Mt. Pleasant High School Squad 3-2. Next, they topped Chartiers-Valley 5-0 before being nipped by nationally ranked North Allegheny 6-5.

Mark Dolan, Senior Co-captain, pitched the clincher over Uniontown that put Albert Gallatin into the 1994 WPIAL AAA play-offs. Mark was the team pitching leader, as a Sophomore, raising the (then) Tri-Valley Griffins, to their first winning season. Mark holds the Team Season Pitching Record E.R.A. with a microscopic 1.16 posted in 1992.
Craig Hoone, Senior Co-captain, pitched and hit the Colonials into the WPIAL semi-finals. His l-o-n-g double, off the screen at Southmoreland High Field, drove in the tieing runs against Mt. Pleasant. In the next round of the playoffs, he pitched a 2-hit shutout, and had 2 singles to rout Chartiers-Valley. His red hot hitting and pitching were key in the 1994 Colonial effort.
Jimmy Cole, Junior, pitched a 3-hitter to boost A.G. over favored Mt. Pleasant and previously undefeated pitcher, Dan Stavisky. Jim ended the season with a pitching record of 6-1, losing only to Nationally ranked North Allegheny in the WPIAL semi-finals.
