Rangers set a record on the way to winning their second league championship in season 1898-99. They won all 18 league games and scored 79 goals along the way. Walter Smith is only the ninth Rangers manager in the 124 year history of the club. Before William Wilton was given the title of 'manager' in 1899, the team was picked by a committee. Bill Struth was the next boss taking over from Wilton after his death in 1920. Struth retired in 1954 and since then the club has been managed by Scott Symon (1954-67), Davie White (1967-69), Willie Waddell (1969-72), Jock Wallace (1972-78, then again from 1983-86), John Greig (1978-1983) and Graeme Souness (1986-91). Rangers have played football at the current Ibrox stadium since 1899, but before then led a somewhat Nomadic existence. The Club played their first matches at Fleshers Haugh on Glasgow Green in 1873, but two years later moved to a new pitch at Burnbank, off the Great Western Road in Glasgow's West End. They stayed there for only a season before moving across the River Clyde in 1876 to take up the ground at Kinning Park, which had earlier been used by the famous Clydesdale Club for both cricket and football. Rangers soon outgrew this facility and in 1887 moved to Ibrox to play on a pitch which stood at the site of the present day Edmiston House. The Club's remarkable growth continued throughout the period and in 1899 they moved to the purpose-built Ibrox Park next door. Rangers Football Club currently has 672 affiliated supporters clubs worldwide. Ticket Information Rangers Football Club has a unique place in British Football. Unlike any other football club Rangers have not been involved in a cash entry match to the Stadium for the past 8 years. The distribution of away match tickets, which is operated by the away office of the Stadium Access Administration, is now fully computerised. This facility is the first of its kind in the United Kingdom and ensures a balanced system of away tickets over a period of six half seasons. Season ticket holders are invited to apply at the start of the season for the first nine away matches and again in November for the remainder of the season and receive a note of the matches for which they have been successful. With almost 40,000 season tickets, the public sale of match tickets is mainly confined to the Broomloan Road Stand. The Stadium Access Administration Department is open from 10 am until 4 pm weekdays and on matchdays from 10 am until kick-off. In addition to counter sales, which normally take place two weeks prior to a match, the Club offer postal and credit card facilities (0141-427 8877).
