Dustin Bryant

Dustin Bryant was a happy camper after
winning first place in the Class 6 Texas State
Meet handstand competition.

He also received a 10th place
medal for the Parallel Bars.

He really racked up the medals at the
South Texas meet in San Antonio, Texas.

Dustin Bryant is 9 years old and is in the fourth grade at New Braunfels Christian Academy. He has been participating in gymnastics (at Texas Topps) since he was two years old. For the 1995 season he was a Class 7 gymnast and won numerous medals including a 1st place All-Around at the Acro-Tex Invite in Georgetown, Texas.

He competed Class 6 for the 1996 season. His best All-Around placing this year was 3rd.

He is now in Class 5. His favorite events are Rings,

Parallel Bars

and Vault.

Karl Slater

Karl Slater competed for the first time last year (1996) as a Class 7 gymnast. At the Texas State Championships he placed 3rd in floor. His best meet of the year was at the Flips Winter Blast. There he placed first in High Bar, placed 3rd in floor and 5th in rings and P-Blocks.

This year he is competing at Class 6. He received second place on rings and sixth All-Around at the Acrotex Invitational on February 1, of this year.

Karl is 10, lives in New Braunfels, and is in the fourth grade. His favorite events are rings and parallel bars. He also enjoys soccer, raising goats, and science experiments.

David Stewart

David (12 in March) has been doing gymnastics for 6 1/2 years and he spends approximately 13 hours in the gym each week. This year he is competing in Class 4. He is considered one of the pioneers of this gym. When they began competing six seasons ago, there were mainly three boys. Of the original boys, David is the last remaining gymnast and he's the highest level we have right now. He has been fortunate to be coached by a former gymnast, David Marus, who was ranked 16th in the Nation at the end of 1992. David's best scores this year have been on the vault. The next meet he will be participating in will be in Houston at the HGC Invitational on March 8th.

David is an A-B student in the 6th grade. He also is active in a select soccer team, little league and all star baseball, and this year he added basketball. His parents give gymnastics the credit for his success and achievements in these other sports.
