Regular Skates

Wednesday, Friday, Saturday

Protective Gear

Highly recommended - but it is your body after all - so you decide.
Oh yes, some places the law requires you wear the stuff.

Skill Levels

Here are some arbitrary skill levels that I'll use throughout this page to describe skates.

Novice Still learning how to stop. That is you still grab on to anything (or anyone) handy to stop yourself (especially if they're cute).
Beginner You can stop okay, and you are reasonably comfortable on smooth, flat surfaces.
Intermediate Slight inclines and curbs don't bother you (too much). You are comfortable skating on roads that haven't been resurfaced within the last year.
Advanced You are comfortable on all surfaces up to and including cobble stones.
Aggressive You enjoy skating down stairs more than you enjoy skating in the street. Your knee pads have replaceable protective covers because you keep wearing them out sliding on them.

Another way of looking at skating experience.

Non-Skaters

Have a friend who doesn't skate? That's okay tell them to bring their bicycle.

When to meet: Friday between 9pm and 10pm.
Where to meet: Downtown St. Pete Behind the Museum, or on The Pier.
Minimum Level: Intermediate - Advanced
Surface: Roads and sidewalks. The roads in downtown St. Pete are in good condition. The sidewalks tend to be mixed conrete and brick. "30 block skate" - the roads are poorer than downtown, and you might run across some cobblestone roads.
Distance: 4 - 9 miles depending on whether you do the "30 block skate".
Other: Unless you want the exercise this is mostly a bar to bar skate. Most weeks part of the group will go on a "30 block skate" from downtown to Snell Island and back. This can be anywhere from 30 blocks to 110 blocks depending on the route taken.
