AMIGA RULES!

Accolades

Gamezone's Review of Hardball 5 for the PC
"Way back when they still made Amiga computers, my friends and I were totally possessed by Earl Weaver Baseball. We had a league of 6 teams formed through a nail-biting annual draft and played a 40 game season capped by playoffs and a World Series. Somewhere in our baseball-obsessed minds the program ceased existing as a mere game and became an anthropomorphized digital being of godlike proportions. Our awed references to "Earl" were reverential allusions not to a pastime but to our guru, our master. Not a day passed where we didn't play, or discuss past games, or burn up the phone lines proposing trades in an effort to turn our teams into ball-bashing juggernauts. We were stat-quoting, spouse-alienating maniacs who lived and died with the Bugs, the Rattlers, and the Petros and indeed, years later, my failure to win a single World Series despite appearing in every one still sticks in my craw (and if Dave Parker, that miserable loser, had just performed as well for me as he had in the real world I'd have that championship ring)."

["Gee that doesn't sound too familiar, does it? Some people are STILL possessed!" Paul Lavallee, EWBL commissioner]

Desktop Journal's Breakthrough Games
"In Earl Weaver Baseball, not only did pitching, hitting and catching obey the laws of physics but managing the line-up and making trades made this the father of all modern sports games. Do us all a favor and send copies to Bud Selig."
-- James Cobb

Gamespot's Review of FSP: Baseball '98
"More than a decade ago, with less technology and less powerful computers, Earl Weaver Baseball had many of Baseball Pro '98's features and loads more fun. That's why it's in this magazine's Hall of Fame. Front Page Sports: Baseball Pro '98 is getting better but has a long way to go to fill Earl's shoes."
-- Robert Coffey

Amiga World's November 1988 Article Entitled "Top 40 All-Time Amiga Games"
#3 Earl Weaver Baseball - Best Sports Game
"Although it includes an arcade option, this heavyweight simulation is not for joystick jockeys. Earl Weaver Baseball is the closest you'll ever get to managing a major-league baseball team. You make all the moves available to the likes of Sparky Anderson and Tommy Lasorda, and you don't have to worry about being fired if you make too many wrong ones. The best feature of Earl Weaver Baseball is its ability to let you and your friends create your own league with players chosen from the rosters of major-league teams. This game is a must for everyone who loves the summer game."
"The only game I'd pay 50 bucks for. All thats missing is the hot dogs."
- Linda Barrett
"My only complaint is how much of my life this one has claimed"
- Bill Catchings
