In October, Presidient Jim Challas sent the first newsletter to the charter members announcing a work party to get the course installed.

On Saturday, November 22, Tom Schot delivered the first eleven Mach III pole holes. The Flying Deuces helped assemble the baskets. Several other local San Jose enthusiasts arrived and helped dig holes for two basket positions for each holes and then poured cement for the 22 sleeves. Holes 10 through 18 were placed on the East side of HiWay 101 and holes 1 and 2 were placed on the West side of HiWay 101.

After an appropriate celebration and some time for cement to dry, everybody was ready to play the first round on the new course. Eighteen people started off playing in a SINGLE group and most made it through all eleven holes. It was a sight to see 18 people tee off at each hole!

On December 13, 1997, the first monthly tournament was held. This is hoped to be the beginning of a regularly scheduled "Second Saturday of the Month" tournament with a $5 entry fee to raise money to help the club purchase current and future baskets.

Stay tuned for special announcements.
