Here is an FAQ written by another Kurt fan, Sita Ismangil.

Kurt is, no doubt, the most popular and loved male athelete in Canada. His talent, showmanship, and the ever-so-down-to-earth personality has taken people, Canadian or non-Canadian, by storm. He has also inspired a lot of people, including myself, in ways that no one else has ever done.

He skated behind Brian Orser in the Canadian national scene for many years. Then he went to the 1988 World Championship in Budapest, Hungary; became the first skater to land a quadruple jump (a quadruple toe loop) in any competition, and made the world started paying attention to this Kid from Caroline.

He then went on to win his first World Championship at the 1989 World Figure Skating Championship in Paris, France.

Kurt would then later win 3 more, 1990, 1991, and 1993. Even though Kurt has never won a medal at the Olympics, he is seen by many as one of the most talented and natural figure skaters in the world.

He turned pro after the 1994 Winter Olympics, and have been performing in shows like Stars On Ice (Discover Card Stars On Ice in the U.S. and Chrysler's Stars On Ice in Canada). In addition, he competes in the professional circuit with other skating greats such as Scott Hamilton and Viktor Petrenko.

Kurt Browning is married, to Sonia Rodriguez , a very talented Second Soloist with the National Ballet of Canada. Their wedding was held at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club on June 30, 1996, in Toronto , and now reside in Toronto.

Kurt Browning Rule

Many people have asked, either what Kurt Browning Rule is, or why it's not spelled with an s (Kurt Browning Rules). Well, the answer to the latter one is easy - it is a rule, and hence Kurt Browning Rule. As for the first, here's an explanation of how the rule was created:

Well...the meat of the rule is "to never give up" and
"that there is always tomorrow".

I came up with this rule back in 1992 when I was going through
some really rough time at school. I was about to give up on
school and lots of things...when I thought of Kurt.

For those of you who are not familar with Kurt's amateur career:
he was expected to win the Gold at the 1992 Albertville Winter
Olympics, but didn't skate clean and had to settle for 6th.
I thought, hey, if he was able to pick himself up after that
(which was in front of millions of people, plus having to face
the loss of a dream he had dreamt of for a long time) and went
on with his life, why can't I?!

Ever since then, I would always look up to him when I encounter
difficulties in life and try to put my life back in perspective.

I know this may sound silly to some people...but it's something
that keeps me going during my rough times.
