The big thing Parkhurst Retro has going for it is the base set. It's just really neat to see the stars of today on one of the classic Parkhurst designs ever. Unforetunately the appeal can't last over the entire box.

The base set is great, but other than that there isn't much in Retro. The terms "rookie pack" and "jersey pack" will become very familiar to you as you beging to beg for them to liven things up. And really that's all Retro offers: 1 jersey and 1 rookie. There is a mini-parallel in each pack, but those are more annoying than anything. Sure they are tougher to get than the regular base cards (barely) but they are just so small and annoying to deal with.

As far as my box, there wasn't really a whole lot of thrill. I did get about half the base set, which is nice. I do like Jordan Leopold's rookie card a lot, he'd be my first choice after the big names (Nash, Zetterberg, Bouwmeester, Spezza). The Turco jersey is rather disappointing actually ... just since it's the 3rd Turco memorabilia card I've pulled today and I'm not particularly into Turco. I also am not a big fan of the design either.

This was the first box break I actually was counting down the packs with glee. Parkhurst Retro is essentially a base set, and that just isn't going to lead to fun and interesting breaks.
