This was a fairly disappointing box. Now, I bought this two years old, so it wasn't all that expensive. I figured that despite the obscurity of some of the guys on the checklist, this could still be a fun break.

Well, two things really hang this up. First of all, the coallation is pretty lousy. Not only were 6 of my 43 base cards duplicates, one autograph was even a duplicate! Secondly, some of these guys are really obscure or low ranking in the hobby. Pulling Scott LaChance and Cory Cross autographs isn't exactly the hobby's greatest thrill. In fact, 58 of the 150 players who have autographs in this checklist are of low-zero hobby impact guys. That's 39% of the autographers.

Before you purchase a box of 1998-99 Be a Player All-Star Series, you need to be aware that the coallation will not be thrilling and that you'll have to "endure" autographs of some rather low impact players. You'd be better off to go for 99-00 BAP Millenium or 00-01 BAP Signature if you can find any: their autograph checklists aren't nearly as cluttered as this set's auto checklist.
