He's got more frets to work with than I do though. I'll tab what I know... Bass part (standard tuning, capo at 10th fret) Intro: G-----------11-14-12-11--------|-----------11-14-12-11-------- D--------12-------------14-12--|--------12-------------14-12-- A-----12-----------------------|-----12----------------------- E--10--------------------------|--10-------------------------- *let ring *let ring G----------------------|-----------11-14-12-11-------- D--------14--------14--|--------12-------------14-12-- A-----14--------14-----|-----12----------------------- E--12--------12--------|--10-------------------------- *let all ring* *let ring Verse: (1/4 bend on both) x x G----------------------------------------------|------------------------ D-----------12---------------------------------|------------------------ A--------12------(12)s14-12-14b-14b--12-14-12--|--(12)s14-12-----14-12-- E--10-10---------------------------------------|-------------10--------- This is the standard verse line, throughout the song some minor variations are played, and played live it's a totally different story. So as long as you keep the beat and stay in key, nearly anything sounds good. Verse Variants: G-----------------------------------------|-------------------------- D-----------12----------------------------|-------------------------- A-----10h12-----14-12--14b-14b--12-14-12--|--14--12h14p12-----14p12-- E--10-------------------------------------|---------------10--------- Verse 1: Begins after this fill G--14--(14)------ pick upwards and let ring D--12--(12)------ w/distortion A---------------- E---------------- play verse line repeated And so it's true the sun still shines, today I saw it from the plane. You drove your dad's car home through rain, while I was dry above the clouds. It seemed as though time were standing still, you dragged me on against my will. I know these feelings soon will fade, and that's the reason that I'm shy. Chorus: The chord progression used here is D F# B A. I'm not particularly sure of the voicings since both instruments play at the same time in different voices, but here is an idea... Chords used (vaguely) D F# B A D G---11----------16----14---- G--11--- the second bass plays this to D---12----16----16----14---- D--12--- begin with, doubling the first one A---12----16----14----12---- A------- where it goes from here, E--(10)---14---------------- E------- I don't know. D F# B I know I've often asked too much, A D when I think nobody's listening. (repeat) Chorus end G----------------------------------------|---------------------------------------- D----------------------------------------|---------------------------------------- A----------------------------------------|---------------------------------------- E--10-10-10-10-10-10--12-12-12-12-12-12--|--13-13-13-13-13-13--10-10-10-10-10-10-- Verse 2 (same line as verse 1) Don't exaggerate the truth, when it's embarrassing for you. I know it's hard to drop a ruse, but no one's watching anyway. Seemed as though time were standing still, you dragged me on against my will. I know these feelings soon wil fade, and that's the reason that I'm shy. Chorus 2 (same as first chorus) Chorus end: leads directly into the bridge Bridge: verse part plays underneath overdubbed distortion track. The notes of this "solo" center around D again, since it's mainly feedback generated by picking roughly and sustaining the notes, it's hard to tab it accurately but this will give you an idea... use these notes to simulate the sound of the recording or create you own. G--19------19-----------19---------------19-- D--19------17--19---17------19--17h19p17----- mix them in any order you like A------17------17---------------------------- E-------------------------------------------- ending with this G----------- D--19s(12)-- A--17s(12)-- E----------- while the first bass plays this The sun is spotted... I hope it's spotted me... G-----------|--------------------------------------------------------------------- D-----------|--------------------------------------------------------------12-12-- A-----------|--------------------------14-14-14-14-10-10-10-10-12-12-12-12-------- E--10-(10)--|--10-10-10-10-12-12-12-12-------------------------------------------- Chorus 3 (same as first chorus) Ending: verse notes played underneath a D chord w/distortion D chord G---11--- later in the ending, heavier distortion gets layered on, I think this is A---12--- yet another overdubbed bass. To simulate this you can add in D---12--- this note E--(10)-- <-------- to create a "heavier" sound. Guess you better call, guess you better call, guess you better call, you better. Fade out. If anyone figures out the "lead" part or better chorus chords, please send them to me if you can. Any other comments, corrections to can_of_tin@hotmail.com *always willing to help an Inbreds fan*
