World Open 2001

Allentown Players, Pictures, Results!

The 29th Annual World Open was held at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Philadelphia Pennsylvania over the July 4th week. Allentown Center City Chess Club was responsible for 12 entries in this prestigious event! Club members were present in all sections from Open to Unrated except U1400. Aside from having representation in the actual tournament, Dave Elliott travelled to Philadelphia for the Action Tournaments on July 1-3rd and many club members went down to support friends who were playing. Below are the final standings of those who participated as well as pictures of nearly all ACCCC participants and supporters. If you are interested, please click "games" at the bottom of this page. We've featured a few games played by our members. The good, the bad, the ugly, and the just plain unbelievable! Your browser must be "java" enabled to view this function.

Congratulations to Bruce Davis, Kurt Schneider, and Michael Savere for each coming in the top 20 of their indivdual sections! Uh, could we borrow a couple of bucks when those checks come rolling in?
