Knocking 'Em Down

So by now, you've probably guessed that for me to be such a fan of bowling, I own my own equipment. You'd be absolutely correct. For those that are interested, I'm providing a description of the equipment I use.

The Balls
Trying to mimic the pros as much as possible, I now own two bowling balls. The objective is to use a main ball with a lot of drive and hook to get your strikes, with a second ball, which rolls relatively straight, to pick up spares.

My main ball is called a Stinger. It's a 14 pounder, mainly purple with some pink highlighting (sounds like a bad hairdo). It has the name "Magnum" engraved on it, which, of course, is a play on words regarding my career. This was an anniversary gift from my wonderful wife, whom I am trying to convince needs to go bowling more often. :) The Stinger was recently modified to have a fingertip grip.

The secondary (spare) ball is a 13 pound ball I purchased about two or three years ago as part of a starter package (only $99 for the ball, shoes and bag). It's blue, with the name "Crispy" engraved in it.

The Shoes
Not a particularly exciting topic. I can't say I focus a whole lot on my bowling shoes. They certainly aren't as ugly as your typical bowling alley rentals. They are made by Dexter, which is a popular brand, and they look like plain white lowtop tennis shoes. In the end, they get the job done.

The Glove
The glove is called a Powerpaw, and came recommended by my local pro shop. I'm still getting used to it in conjunction with the fingertip grip.

The Bag
As part of the anniversary gift from my wife, I got a new bowling ball carrier designed, of course, to hold two bowling balls. It's a hard plastic shell that sits up and has rollers, which makes it convenient to tote around.
