My Day Job

I figured I'd toss in a little bit about my job here, since it seems to interest people. I've been working as a private investigator since 1997. I didn't plan my career that way - it just happened. But I must say I'm enjoying it immensely.

Contrary to popular belief (and the name of my bowling ball), it's not a Magnum P.I. type job. I don't wear Hawaiian shirts (in public, at least), I don't carry a gun, and I don't kick down doors or chase after cheating spouses. It's just not our firm's style. I do drive a cool car though:

At any rate, for the most part, my firm acts as investigation and trial preparation support to attorneys in civil and criminal cases. I could tell you the specifics of the cases I work on, but, well...see that car up above there? I'd have to run you over with it.

My work is mainly behind the computer. I write up a lot of the investigative reports we turn out to the attorneys. I also perform most of the online portions of investigative work our firm does. You'd be amazed at what you can learn about someone from sitting at your desk. You can run, but it's getting increasingly hard to hide these days.

You may be asking yourself what all of this PI stuff has to do with bowling. Well, I'm proud to say that in the last two months, I've covinced four of my coworkers, and one coworker's spouse, to go bowling with me. In fact, two of the coworkers have gotten fairly serious. One has just recently acquired her own bowling ball, and another coworker has plans to join me in an upcoming league. I'm proud to be the voice of bowling at my office!
