GEARS Rally, Beat Ft. Wayne 7-3

Phil Miaskowski scored 2 goals within the first three minutes of the game, however Ft. Wayne's Kelly Hurd answered with 2 of his own, leaving the teams tied 2-2 after the first period. The Komets took the lead as Sacha Moline scored midway through the second period, giving Ft. Wayne the 3-2 lead at the end of two periods. The Gears rallied to score the next 5 unanswered goals, Miaskowski completed the natural hat trick to tie the game at 3. Rafael Protopapas recorede his second prfessional goal as he pounced on a rebound in front of the net to give the Gears a more comfortable two goal lead. With 3:37 left in the third period, the Komets pulled the goalie, and with 3:01 left, Justin Morrison scored the empty netter, his first goal since being traded to the Gears. Jeff Loder added another empty net goal with 1:01 left to play. This victory marks the first time the Gears have won this season when trailing after two periods. Goaltender Mike Brusseau recorded his first victory in his first start.

GEARS Shutout by Knoxville, 6-0

Knoxville recovered from its worse loss of the season, an eleven to one blowout to defeat the Gears 6-0. Knoxville's Jeff Suggitt scored the first two goals, both on the power play. The Gears Ben White misplayed a bouncing puck that resulted in a short-handed goal by Knoxville's Dan Myre. The Speed added another goal in the first on goaltender Jonathan Forest who was pulled after allowing that fourth goal. Mike Brusseau took over in the Gears net and played well through two and a half periods allowing 2 goals, a short handed breakaway goal and a power play goal in the second period to Knoxville's leading scorer, Trevor Jobe.

Bill Courbier Released from Office Staff

Bill Courbier, one of the five owners of the Gears is no longer the Director of Business Operations. That job now belongs to Bob Jones, owner of Season to Season Sports, based in OHIO. The Gears ownership has been quoted as saying they are looking to move marketing in a different direction, and that Jones will implement some innovative ideas in an attemt to get more fans to the games.

Career Notes :Won a championship with his Junior tean, the Laval Titans and led them in playoff scoring. Last season Jeff was with wheeling in the ECHL where he scored 24 goals and had 27 assists.
Personnal Notes : Jeff enjoys fishing and golfing and lists steak as one of his favorite foods. He and his wife, Bekka, reside in Saginaw.
